On that note let me introduce myself. My name is Davette.I have been on Topomax about 31/2months.I have migrains and seizures.I have been extremely effected by the side effects.Mostly memory and spelling.I have tingling in the fingers and toes.I also have little appetite and have lost 17lbs.Witch is great for me. I am over weight.I am tired more than normal, but i did sleep alot due to migrains.I do have more side effects and stuff, but I wont over load you all at once.I know this sounds like alot, but it has gotten better as time goes on. I have started to level off and become more normal.I dont feel the tingles as much and i have more of an appetite (darn)he he.I have less migrains down from 18 days a month to about 7 or 8 at the most.I am happy about that. Please feel free to ask any questions and talk about your self. we can help each other out.

I have taken Topomax (for alcohol cravings) for the last 5 months - 50mg (25 morning - 25 at night).  I noticed the cravings are gone but I still experience frequent headaches.  I stopped taking 10 days ago and my headaches seem to be worse.  I have lost 25lbs since I started Topomax - it seemed to take my appetite away - I am currently doing alot of aerobic activity and this has sped up the weight loss.

I stopped taking Topomax specifically because I seemed to have concentration issues and more importantly it affected my speech.  I seemed to always have flem (frog) in my throat and it never seemed to go away - people would ask if I was getting over a cold.  I am currently looking for work and having to constantly clear my throat is not good for interviews. Since I stopped taking Topomax I notice my headaches last most of the day - but my speech and concentration have cleared up.  One more note: It seems to have affected my moods - I tend to get agitated rather easily.  Don't know if it is the headaches or directly related to not taking the medication any longer.  Also, I would sleep 10-12 hrs a day while on Topomax - now I wake up at 7-8hrs)

My doctor prescribed me Topamax 3 days ago to curve my appetite. I am on 400 mg of seroquil and 450 mg of lithium a night. The seroquel makes me eat and eat often, but only at night. I am hoping this topamax works because I don't want to gain any weight. I haven't so far, Thank God. I was just wondering if anyone is taken Topamax for the same reason and if they had good results with it. Thank You

i've been taking topamax now for about 2 weeks and after about one week noticed right away the loss of appetite, which didn't bother me too much.  (i don't have a problem with losing some weight!)  BUT what i'm beginning to notice and NOT like is the tingling in my left leg only...the entire leg.  AND the way it makes my soda seem "flat".  Anybody else experience this?  WHY is this?!?  it is helping w/my migraines some though, so i can't complain with regards to that.

I stopped reading after much repetition. My comments are as follows for anyone that may be in my boat.....I started topomax (25mg) 1 time per day, 1 1/2 weeks ago for migranes that were brought on due to hormone changes due to perimenopause. So typically I get the migranes 2 weeks before my period and right on the day I get my period and then God forbid that I also get a sinus infection, because that can bring one on also. I had also gained 50pounds in the last 5 years (said to also be brought on by "the change")  So the topomax has taken away my appetite very nicely. I now just eat 3 times a day like a normal person. No overeating like I was. Due to the perimenopause I have also had insomnia for the last 2 years and the topomax now has me sleeping like a baby. I take it right before bed. My doctor also gave me Maxalt 10mg should I get a migrane before this topomax builds up  in my system. Then should I get a migrane after one month of being on topomax at 25mg then they will boost me up to 50mg and so on and so on. It make sense to me to try the build up in your system approach as everyone is different in what they need. Probably also why I have not had any of the other symptoms that you all talk about. Maybe you are all on too high of doses? Those of you on 100mg especially talking about tingling in hands etc.   I hope to start on bioidentical hormones soon and that should eliviate the migranes altogether so that I do not have to take the topomax at all. If anyone has my issues, I recommend reading "the wisdom of menopause". Best of luck to you all out there.
