I've actually gotten really good at doing these!
A good challenge to add with the squats is to hold your arms up at 90 degrees, holding onto dumbells. Do a press when you come up from your squat to work those small muscles!
Lucinda!! great exercise!! yes it is on the wii and believe you me its hurts to hold it lol!! Today i did my 30day shred DVD im trying to tone up and it has the squats while holding dumbells and shes a killer anyways lol so yeah i got squats in and now im sore lol!!
Very important indeed! Protection of knees is a must, particular with this type of exercise.

ONE CAUTION: Do NOT let your knees go beyond your toes in the squat/seated position. You accomplish this by sinking your rear BACK, as you indicated. VERY IMPORTANT for your knees!!!
