The "ugly truth" might not be so ugly after all --- learn to love yourself as you are, then try to make small deliberate changes --- clean the house - slowly, steadily, but surely. But savor every single change as it comes and take the same satisfaction that you'd get from spending an hour cleaning the house.
kmil1999....Hey there! Glad to have caught you at the perfect time. Isn't it interesting how these coincidences occur? I am with you too Karen and if you need any assistance with the trackers or anything else, just give a shout out and I will be glad to help, as I know the rest of the gang will as well. Thanks for coming on board with me.... : )
Barb! What a novel concept of comparing it to the house work. Small tasks added up eventually equal a large scale improvement. I like that approach. I'm thinking my house (my body) might like that too. : ) Maybe not at first, but in the long run.
I so hear the both of you with the health issues. I left my old 'motto' on my profile and I am going to remember that it is true...."I have health issues, but they do not have me." I'm adding my weight ticker to this one, even though it is not a formal weigh-in, as this morning I came face to face with "the ugly truth". : )
I think there are a lot of us who have been having "issues" lately and have gone off in different directions. I personally, have been dealing with a lot of health issues.
I think one of my major problems is that I try to go SO gung ho and end up burning myself out. I'm working on a plan to help map out very small gradual changes to concentrate on. It's kind of like cleaning house -- if I look around my house and say "oh my I have to get this place cleaned up", it's so overwhelming I don't know where to start; whereas, if I start with one small task and get it finished, I'm encouraged to continue on with another, then another and before I know it, I've made a huge dent in my cleaning project, but I really haven't worked all that hard.
I think I've got to work on my health and weight loss issues the same way I work on my cleaning -- one small task at a time.............
We're here to support and encourage everyone, every step of the way.........
You know what, your post just came to me at just the right time. I have had a rough time that started in the spring. I have a lot of health problems going on, but that doesn't have to stop me either
I have gained a little over 30 lbs. and it is time to get back on track. I have had to do this 2 other times so you are right! I can do this again.
As soon as I figure out how to use the water/food tracker I will start. (Prob. start tracking later tonight) I have company later today so need to get some things done.
Thanks so much for the jumpstart and I am here with you!
Karen
My initial plan of action will be as follows (although plan to add to it as I progress):
1) Commit myself to logging food intake here daily, regardless of whether they were good choices or not...must be accountable.
2) Initiate a water tracker because I know that I do not partake of this fluid anywhere near enough.
3) Commit to some type of physical activity within my limitations each day toward my goals.
4) Weigh in today (not wait until Sunday), so that I have true value of a start point.
5) Always remember to be kind to myself as I am a work in progress. : )
