Hey, Gym, wouldn't mere logic tell you that this isn't a contest between the two?  Wouldn't combining the two be the right answer, not just one or the other?  Not that I'm disagreeing -- it's clear through all the long-term studies that go on for decades following people that diet is more important than exercise, but not more important than movement -- it's not formal exercise that's so important as not being sedentary, and if you live a sedentary existence you do need to exercise.

Do the Atkins diet and walk everyday 10000steps cut you food intake in half and eat mainly vegetables and protein lose 1 pound a week.

I'd personally avoid Atkins -- or any fad diet, actually.  Atkins has more research on it than any other diet because it was developed originally to prevent heart disease (the creator, Dr. Atkins, died of heart disease!)  The research showed that the diet did not work in the long run and was unhealthy in the long run, as it's too high in protein and too low in antioxidant rich foods.  That's not to say it doesn't have its champions, but it hasn't panned out as hoped over time.
