Question of the Month - June 2013

What type of “diet” plan are you on?  For example, are you on a commercial plan, such as Nutri-system, Medi-Fast, Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc, or are you working on lifestyle changes that you’ll stick with over the long term?  Are you reaching your goals on your plan?

Here's one that's kind of neat.  You can click on different food groups and it tells what foods are in that group, then you can click on a chart to see how much makes up a serving.  I haven't fully explored it, so it may tell you additional things, as well.

I'm looking for more.

You don't really have to have a plan you pay for; simply watching portion sizes and eating real food vs processed foods, is a great "diet".

There are some great websites that give great information on portion sizes, calorie needs, exercise information, etc.  I can help you find them, if you like.

Um... Ive not picked a diet yet. Weight Watchers would likely be what Id turn to but I cant afford it. So Im stuck using my own means I suppose.

I’ve tried several different tactics, but have mostly opted for lifestyle changes that I can stick with, because of health issues that are actually causing my weight problem.  These health issues include hypothyroidism and insulin resistance, along with probable absorption issues.

Because insulin resistance often leads to Type II diabetes, I’m, currently, on a program through my doctor’s office, which has provided me with body composition tests, calorie and exercise needs, along with amounts of protein, carbs, fat and sodium that I should be consuming on a daily basis.

I have not yet reached my goal, which is to lose approximately 23 lbs
