Sunday Weigh in - January 23, 2022

Good morning.  I hope everyone is having a good day, so far.  It's kind of dark and dreary here and has turned colder.  We thought it was going to freeze overnight, but it didn't.  Of course, we can always get that tonight.  Anyway, the days are getting longer and hopefully, warmer weather isn't too far away.

It's been another pretty quiet week, though I've been busy all the time.  I've been trying to weed things out of my closet for some time and had a large box of things ready for donation.  We bought some new luggage over the weekend, so have to get rid of our old ones.  I ended up putting all the things I had in the box into the largest of the suitcases, except shoes.  The suitcase wasn't quite full, so I dug into my closet and pulled out a few more clothes that would fill the suitcase.  I put shoes in the smallest case and it overflowed, so I started working on the middle sized one.  I ended up with that about 1/2 full of shoes and 1/2 full of clothes.  I don't know how I tend to accumulate so many clothes/shoes, when it seems as though I don't have anything to wear.  :-)  Anyway, since I gained weight, there's so much I'm unable to wear any longer.  I'd packed some away to save for "thinner" days, but I think I'll go ahead and donate those, as well.   If I am lucky enough to be able to wear those sizes again, the clothes will be out of style...  :-)

So yesterday, I spent cleaning so I was on the move all day.  Husband made BLT's for lunch, so the salt in the bacon wasn't a good thing, but hopefully I was able to "work it off".  I haven't weighed this morning, but earlier in the week, I was down a little over a pound from a couple of weeks ago, so I'll take that and hope the salty bacon didn't do a lot of damage.  I'll weigh later and report it.

How did your week go?  I hope you managed to meet the goal(s) you set for yourself.  Let us know how you're doing.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Weightwise, I'm almost exactly where I was last week. Maybe off by .1 of a pound. I had a bit of a dip in the middle of the week, though, so it's not exactly staying totally stable. But given the crazy eating we've been doing with being busy painting at the new house, it's a mercy that I haven't gained.

We've been painting a big daylight basement that opens into the back yard, and really just today got to see how the final coat of wall paint and final coat of trim paint work together. The walls had originally been an olive green that took us three coats to cover (we went with a light ivory), and the fresh walls made us see that we had to paint the ceiling (it was a dingy putty, darkening the whole space). Then the trim took three coats because we were covering relatively dark natural wood, and it just kept showing through! lol Anyway, the big moment came where in one corner at least, there was enough trim with three coats that we could see how the walls and trim looked together, and for added thrills we hauled out the Pergo sample we had chosen, and looked at it next to the recently painted trim and wall. We looked at it, and looked at it. In the car on the way home, my husband said, "Did you like the way the flooring looked in the basement?" and I said I guessed I didn't. (It would have looked good with the maple floors upstairs, but it didn't look right with the birch cabinets downstairs.) So, off we went on a Sunday night to Home Depot to see what we could do to save the Pergo situation. The floor has been measured already and the sample was marked as the color we want, but I haven't paid for it yet, so I think there is still time to make a change. I don't want to put in the wrong thing and dislike it for years.

The painting, and getting on contractors' lists for all the fun things still to go (such as moving the laundry room) have taken up much of the week, and look like my work for the foreseeable future. Only then do I get to stuff old suitcases full of shoes and send them to the Goodwill, an activity that sounds very satisfying, Barb! At least you're freeing up closet space! I hate to think of how old some of my clothes are by now, but at least that suggests that by the time it comes down to cleaning out closets, I'll be able to give a lot of things the old heave-ho without any regret.

Have a great week!
