3 periods in one month: help!!

Ok, my obgyn put me on Loestrin 24 to help alleviate my severe cramps, which has worked.  I have been on Loestrin since December of 2007.  Even now, my periods are completely sporatic, and unpredictable.  I averaged(since I started the pills) 1-2 periods a month, but they were and still are very light.  But in October, I had three periods, no crapms, and all three periods consisted of a vinegary smelling dark brown blood.  I even tried using a ******, and I wash down there every time I shower.  I told my mom about it and she said just keep an eye on it since I go to see my obgyn in February for a follow-up.  I am still a virgin(thank God) and I haven't had any problems while being on the pill except these sporatic periods.  Any ideas?

Hi,

When I was 14yrs old (long time ago now!!) I have three periods per month and 1week off - totally the opposite to what is should be.  My doc put me on the same pill that your on and this did not fix the problem either in fact like you I think it made it worse wit the bleeding and better with the pain.  Anyhow, we looked at the pill and doc advised a change.  He put me onto a three coloured pill where different levels of progest and oest were given at different stages of my cycle - this pill was called Trinordinal or something very similar ( sorry haven't used a pill for a while now).  Anyhow, this three colour, three level pill was the answer to my prayers I have had regular periods for 14 years now and I haven't used the pill for three years - you should defo discuss this type of pill with your gyno. x

I am 24 years old and have three little girls I just had a baby in July of 08 and started birth control in November of 08. I started gettting 3 periods a month and real bad migranes that would last about 2-3 days. I finally gave up on the pill in the begining of Feb -09 and started to bleed soo much one day heavy blood and clots. My fiance thought maybe I had a miscarrage or something was really wrong. At the E.R they said it was only a period:( They sent me home and I bleed like that for about 4days straight. My OBGYN says it was normal. How crazy is that. Anyone else going through this????????????????///

No, I'm never late and I never skip taking my pill.  My last period I had was only 3 days long and it was extremely dry, and clot-like as well as a very dark brown.

You should not be having 3 periods in a month if you are on the Pill. You should call ur gyno to get switched to a different pill that contains higher doses of hormones which should regulate your cycle.

Are you ever late on taking any of the Pills? Do you accidently skip any? If so, this could cause some breakthrough bleeding that is light.
