Yes, castor oil is really not something ever proven to work. I wouldn't try to do any type of intervention to have this child. Babies are considered full term at 38 weeks and I can tell you, most women with first pregnancies stay dilated at 2 cm for a few weeks (I sure did! With all of my pregnancies!). It's not really indicative of labor being ANY time soon. Five pounds is a small baby and 34 weeks is too early.
Instead, try to get extra rest. As it gets closer to 38 to 40 weeks, make sure to keep exercising. My doctor told me to go for walks to help bring on labor.
good luck but lose the idea of caster oil.
Just a thought. Preterm births can have long term consequences. My daughter was 32 weeks and has had life long gastrointestinal issues, among other things. I was in labor at least 2x a week starting at 20 weeks. I understand it being uncomfortable , but please think of the child's long term health
Caster oil useually gives people diarhea and rearly helps to speed up labor
Back pain is normal in the third trimester. 34 weeks is too early to deliver a baby who's not in distress. If you or the baby's health were at risk your doctor would suggest an early delivery. At 34 weeks your baby is still developing fat that will help regulate his/her body temperature when born and should still be gaining a good amount of weight. Inducing labor on your own is not a good idea for baby's sake when not medically indicated.
