A moving fibroid?

Hi, this may sound a bit crazy...but I went to the doctor (OB-GYN) a while ago after finding a lump in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen.  Of course when I went for an ultrasound they found no lumps in the area... one was found about the size of a gulf ball and they said it was a fibroid in the uterine lining.  I went back to my doctor having problems with 13 day heavy periods...no sooner I get over one  then I get PMS a week later (very sore heavy hot breasts of which I have never gotten before) then I get another period 8-9 days later. He said that my uterus was the size of like being 4 months pregnant. He felt a larger lump in the exam than what showed on the ultrasound...He said that I could chose to have a hysterectomy at my own leisurely pace.  That was that...last I knew he was to call me with a specialist's name and number.  I had already tried taking birth control hormones and I only bled more and and had problems with more heart palpitations (made my heart rhythms worse), and nausea...so I don't consider it an option anymore!

Now comes the strange part...recently this lump is traveling throughout my abdominal cavity.  Getting in the way when I am doing yoga, dancing, biking... and I woke up this morning and it was pushing out my belly button!!!  I can push it around to a more comfortable position (I don't know if I should be doing that as it hurts badly and feels weird when it rolls to a different spot.)  Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?  When I feel my abdomen the hard lump feels kind of like a hard long tube like structure...a little larger on one side than the other....And it really hurts when it is trapped up high like under my rib cage...most of the time it lies sideways on top of my pubic bone.  Sometimes it pushes on my bladder and then I have the urge to go all day!  I talk to the doctor about this and all he says is that the fibroid can move because the uterus is not a stable organ, so the lump would move around with the uterus.  I said this must be one large fibroid...certainly feels larger than what was noted...His response...I am also feeling my uterus too (as I am more of a slender build.)  How many people can feel their uterus?  Anyway, He says that he is sending me to a specialist that might know more, but i have heard nothing from him!  This is so uncomfortable...Has anyone heard of this or experienced it before? My thoughts are roaming and my anxiety is soaring on top of it all!

I have six fibroids, the largest is 9 cm.  I had a pundunculated subserosal that when though red necrosis.  I've never had any move but I have had them go through necrosis which is cramping and they can sort of vibrate.  Honestly they are hormon fed and mostly estrogen but sometimes progesterone as well.  I have a friend that swears by Maca but I stopped talking it because my Dr warned me.  Depending on what is causing your growth, you can make it grow faster.  70% of women have them by 50.  They are most benign tumours.  If they are causing excessive bleeding, pain or infertility there are other treatments outside hysterectomy for most women.  Myoectomy is removing just the fibroids.  There is new treatment in the way of MRI Focused ultrasound.  Here in Canada it was just approved for use to 2015 but is still being tested for mainstream use.  There is hope.

Did you try bioidentical progesterone cream? 100-200 mg daily from days 12-28. The standard suggested dosing cant provide relief. Fibroids feed off of estrogen. The progesterone in birth control is not the same. It's an FDA patented chemical. The cream is better and once you regulate your progesterone / estrogen balance, the fibroids should shrink down on their own. Utilizing Triple action cruciferous and calcium d glucarate to metabolize and excrete excess estrogen should help as well.

im also experiencing the same situation. my fibroid moves everytime I sleep. but im trying some herbs to make it shrink, which seems to be working. I use to feel pain in my back and heavy bleeding but that has decreased. just try using green tea, vitamin c,d and e and on top of that PRAY.

I had the exact same issues as you. It was fibroids. I couldn't understand how fibroids could cause such symptoms, but they feed off hormones...mine were growing so rapid at that time. I hope you were able to figure things out whether they were fibroids or pregnancy.

check out Cryptic Pregnancy
I swear I'm pregnant, dr says 2 small fibroids making me feel low low pressure, hips spreading out, frequent urnination. Then she said, hormones mimic pregnancy too but  my hormones are fine, size is too small for fibroids to be creating late stage pregnancy weight.

I swear I'm pregnant.
Had fibroids before nothing like this.
Check out Cryptic Pregnancy where the babies 'hide' from plain sight.
Doctors dont want to hear about it.
Either you are pregnant, i.e. their tests detect a baby
Or you are not.

You are not alone.

Today, a sales person asked me about my non existent pregnancy. I thought I looked good. It's the fibroids. :/

I'm 29, and last April, out of the blue, learned I have a 19cm uterus because of the size of my fibroids.

My lower back aches always. I had to pee every 45 mins bc of these things, but that was curbed after seeing an acupuncturist and a herbalist. (This was rough. I worried that I couldn't sit thought important events, and when the topic of a family trip to Disney came up, I was Really worried about my inability to stand in lines long enough.) There was a period where I would get up as if I was pregnant, I'd hold my belly as I walked up the stairs, cuddling has to be altered, and intimacy has changed so much. In addition, I've gone up 2-3 clothing sizes because it's grown so big. I've also put on 20 pounds this year. My normal weight pattern is a gain of about 2-4 pounds a year.

This year, my comfort in my own body has waned. What makes this more difficult is that I am engaged to be married this September. If I lose the weight I gained this year, my dress will fit without alterations. If I lose the weight I gained this year, will I look even more pregnant? This is all so frustrating, upsetting and uncomfortable.

In addition to all this, pregnancy is more complicated. I was informed that I would need the fibroids removed before I could conceive, then I'd need a c-section to deliver. At first, I cried; I had hoped to be little-miss-all-natural, and since then, I've been working through my emotions and finding ways to make this more comfortable mentally.

I wish the medical world knew of more ways to balance our hormones so that these issues could be handled in a more effective way. Cutting out the symptoms without address the cause seems foolish and inappropriate, but I am told that it is the best option. Increasing my Vitamin D3 intake, seeing an herbalist and an acupuncturist are all helping me treat the symptoms, but I'm not sure how much they are treating the problem. It can be difficult to have faith.

I hope everyone can find peace with this issue; it's not a fun one.

Also I learned today that fibroids are crystallized mucus.theres ways you can shrink them and pass them without surgery ! They'll come back  if you don't change your lifestyle from the way you eat, your sex life...attracting toxic partners ...etc.research natural ways to pass fibroids.

I've never experienced something so confusing before in my life.i've had pregnancy scares before and I have abnormal periods so maybe I do have a fibroid but I can feel movements that feel like kicks.and it started off as flutters and before that I just felt a knot on my side.im bloated as if I am pregnant.my back is arched and im shaped like a pregnant woman.my nose smells everything,my breast are sore and my nipples have bumps around them as if i was gonna be producing milk.my nose is also wider,my gums bleed leaving a metallic taste in my mouth,i cant wear wired bras or any type of bras really because it hurts.my breast, thighs and behind have grown.i feel like i cant breath when i lay on my back so i only lay on my sides.I have dreams about being pregnant with a Lil boy and ppl close to me have dreams about me and this Lil boy.i thought i was alone and that i was crazy but you and @welivetogive really gave me reassurance.i feel very alone,i told everyone i was pregnant but i doubted myself after the doctors visit and told my friends im not pregnant after all.they think im crazy and we dont speak anymore.i doubt fibroids cause all these pregnancy symptoms.maybe my uterus is pregnant but there's no baby?maybe my mind and heart wanted to experience pregnancy so bad that my body altered because of it. i feel sad because I want to be pregnant but I took several urine test over a period of months and they all came back negative.from a spiritual standpoint when a man and a woman come together you give birth to something.I'm still searching I've gone to the doctor but I never feel like they wanna help me Im just a dollar sign.i had blood test done and they said it was abnormal.i wanted an ultrasound but they did X-ray of my chest because I had really severe rib pain.they said it was nothing wrong with me and they didnt know what was causing pain.i figured my ribs were shifting for the baby.apart of me is dreading going back because i don't wanna hear Im not pregnant and my powerful thoughts have been deceiving my body but I have to know so Im going to the gyn.

Good luck and much love
and blessings to all of you.

This has happened to me. (Not in my navel area though) my fibroid tumors have now grown to the point I may have to undergo a hysterectomy. They say with the lasers they can grow back.

Any way "yes" they shift and move. Mine ((In my lower abdominal area)) the uterus of course. and it's a similar feel of a fetus inside...

I have the same issue.  I only feel movement at night when I lay down to rest.  This is really weird.  I have been diagnosed with a large uterine fibroid, but I am not familiar with the symptoms.  I could not possibly feel any more pregnant than I do.  INCLUDING LEAKING BREAST MILK.  What the heck?  I look 5 months pregnant, have nausea, leaking breast milk, weight gain, etc.. everything.  EXCEPT, I had my tubes cut and tied over 4 years ago.  Dr can only see fibroid and my preg. tests are all negative.  This is the craziest experience I've ever had and a little disheartening.  I would prefer to be done having children, but at the same time it aches my heart.

Thank you for posting your dilemma. I have lately been feeling what I believe to be fetal movement. I have had four kids and thought I was pregnant again. I am scheduled for an ultrasound but have never before been diagnosed with fibroids, although my doctor thinks that is what it is. I was feeling like I must be going mad till I read your post today. my belly has swollen in the last 3 weeks like I am about 20 weeks pregnant! What in the world is happening. I feel as though maybe I should go to my regular doc or even a hospital and fake abdomenal pain just to get an abdominal ultrasound. Doc has only ordered a internal pelvic. I hope all goes well with you and let me know how your endeavor turns out. ***@****  Communities (1)

look up pedunculated fibroid.  I think we are having the same problem.  Apparently this type of fibroid is attached to a stalk connected to your uterus. and can make you feel like you have a baby moving inside.  I even read in one instance that it can be moved around like you were mentioning, hope this helps.  If i find out more at my gyno visit in a couple of days, I will send more info.

I too have a Fibroid and I am getting ready to schedule a surgery to have it removed I have one big one in the lining of the uterus so my doctor recommends it that I have it out since it's changing the shape of the uterus. I had a miscarriage 4 months ago, they don’t know if the fibroid was the cause but they can’t say for sure. I found out I had a fibroid while I was pregnant, before that the only symptom from this fibroid was my 7 day long periods. Now after my miscarriage, my periods are double that and the fibroid that had grown during pregnancy is smaller now but still the size of a tennis ball, but my periods are very long. So I am having a myomectomy performed soon to preserve the uterus and still be able to have children in the future. I hope everything goes good with that. I too can feel the fibroid sometimes and the pressure of it when I'm lying down. I just want it out now, I am scared about the surgery but I’m putting my trust in God that I'm making the right decision about this.
Good luck to you all
Hopeful K

I hate to say it...but I think modern medicine is failing many women.  For the past 5 1/2 months I was convinced I was pregnant.  I have five children already, of which I was told that I could never be pregnant.  And much like this health issue, I was told that my uterus is 14 weeks, but I'm not pregnant.  BHCG serum and urine is normally negative - no surprise there! But this is rough!  Everything about my body says pregnancy.  I had an ultrasound today, and was told that I have uterine fibroids that mimic pregnancy.  I am confused because I too have movement.  I've had fibroids before, but no movement as if it were a baby.  I feel like a fool.  So when I visited a friend today and she saw my big belly, I told her that my uterus was pregnant with we don't know what yet.  I'm scheduled to get a second opinion on Tuesday with a different doctor.  I didn't know fibroids could do all of this.  Oh by the way...my eldest son, who was finally discovered by doctors when I was almost 6 months pregnant is 20 years old today and in the military.  I did lose one son in my 39th week (a twin) because they said they only saw one baby.  Go figure..... I don't know what to believe anymore.  But I will say this, if I were on an island where there wasn't fancy equipment and a bunch of educational degrees in medicine - I would say without a doubt that I was pregnant again, and that it couldn't be fibroids that's causing aversion to smells, appetite changes, gradual weight gain, swelling, bleeding gums, changes in my body shape, vivid dreams about a daughter that I don't already have, and so much more....So please know that you are not alone in your medical fact finding endeavors.

I am just trying to keep my post at the top for a while....In hopes of finding someone else who has gone through this.  I am so afraid that it is making me have more panic attacks and heart rhythm problems than normal.

Ultrasound only shows a large fibroid.  Doctor doesn't know why it should move around or even push out my belly button...said he never heard of it! He said may be it isn't a fibroid and that this isn't something that can be seen on the ultrasound.

I tried to look it up on-line and found nothing...or maybe someone else has more knowledge on looking it up and finding something and could post it for me.

Hi, I have a very similar situation. A fibroid that moves around is most likely on the outside of the uterus and attached by a coard.
I was recently diagnosed with one. It moves around. Mostly, during the day it sits just above my pelvic bone, however, some mornings I find it beneath my belly bottom and pushing it out.
My fibroid is 8cm in diameter.
It is called pedunculated subserosal fibroid.
Hope this helps.
Do not make them convince you for a hysterectomy. There are many other options. Explore.

Hope this helps.
Yes, I read that pedunculated or "stalk" fibroids are minimally attached to your healthy flesh and therefore easier to remove since there is smaller incision.
