Acceptable medicine while pregnant

Okay if I haven't already let anyone know I am 7 weeks preg. so I got my BFP. Anyway my husband and I have both come under colds with sore throats and I'm afraid of what medicine is acceptable at such a rare stage, I know it could be related to stress because we are in the process of relocating to another city and don't have time to let our bodies rest.  What is the best suggestion so that I don't lose my mind thinking that I am harming my baby.

I don't know if this will help but with the sore throat, my dentist told me to gargle with Children's Benadryl.  You don't have to take it but gargle with it and it numbs your throat and Benadryl is on the safe list while you are pregnant.

I am 3 months pregnant and I was told I can take sudafed, warm tea with lemon and honey and cough drops. The tea feels good going down, but my throat still hurts like hell and now my chest is beginning to hurt. And this nasal congestion is a booger too....HORRIBLE! someone please help, what else can I do.

Here is a site that is helpful with checking on certain medication:

http://www.safefetus.com/Search.asp

Also if you look up Category C medications during pregnancy this will help too.

Just got to grin and bare it dear.  Not a lot of meds, even over the counter, is pregnancy approved.  Consult with your doc.   I didn't take anything but Tylenol, via my doc.  Be careful what you ingest while pregnant.  Consult your doc or ask a nurse.  They would be more than happy to assist you.  Hope you feel better soon.

Does anyone know if it's safe to take the blue liquid Tylenol sore throat while pregnant? It's 4am & I've been up all night miserable. I think it actually might be strep but I can't call the dr til 8:30am. I'm 18 1/2 weeks & just wanted some temporary relief so I can rest a few more hrs before work!! Thanks

my OB office gave me a list of medicines that are considered okai to take while pregnant...im assuming you can take any of them during any stage of pregnancy...anyway, here's what i have:

PAIN MEDICATION
tylenol and codeine (the codeine says by prescription only)

COUGHS/COLDS
Robitussin (cough), Actifed, Robitussin DM (non productive cough), cough drops, sudafed, saline nose spray and tylenol

DECONGESTANTS
sudafed, Robitussin CF, Tavist D, Ocean Mist nasal spray

the list of meds to NOT TAKE at all are:
Aspirin, motrin, advil, aleve, anaprox, naproxen, nyquil

i have more on the list, but its not related to colds....let me know if you want me to post more....

Check out safefetus.com
I had a throat infection which I just thought was a sore throat.  My OB gave me amoxicillin and green chloroceptic spray (he said do not use the red) and tylenol for pain.

i think there will be some who may say tylenol is okay? however i was JUST like you are and paranoid about what to take. i too had a NASTY cold while pregnant and honestly, i just let nature take its course and "dealt with it" i was too afraid something would happen.
i even called the dr. to see if i could drink a hot herbal tea. even certain teas are a no no.
