There are so many options now that you don't have to keep your ovaries any more. I kept one and have had a few night sweats, a bit of ovary pain, but that's all. Sounds like you could have endo in other places. Maybe on oyur bowel, bladder & ovaries. THat means the tissue swells in the cycle and then releases the blood and starts over again.
Have you tried turing off the engine? This would at least answer the question of endo. I don't think scar tissue would only be a problem once in a while. It sounds like the cells that usually line the uterus went a bit haywire. Taking the pill all month round or getting Lupron shots to go into temporary memopause are both options. It sounds like it may be worth it for you to try this ......and then check out bio indentical hormones so that you don't have dramatic drops in estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. There are many places that will measure your blood for these hormones and giving you adjusting hormones. In my opinion the bio identical are better than synthetic, but I have friends on both and there are no problems with anyone on eigher.
I was having my period every two weeks for a while as well. I am not taking any hormones, just the cream and adjusting my diat. I started using topical progesterone creme 21 days and off 7. I also eat estrogen rich foods, but I am relatively pain free and still having a bloodless cycle.
You did not say how old you were, but it doesn't sound like it is not woth it for you to keep your ovaries. It also sounds like your doctor is of no help.
All teh best and hope that you are feeling better!
All the best to you.
First of all, I am sorry you are having such difficulty after probably being told that you will feel so much better if you have a hysterectomy!
I also know the frustration you feel when the doctor says there is not much they can do...or they don't have a clue about what the problem is. I agree as far as getting another opinion. But, I also wanted to direct you to a post on the hysterectomy site where I posted information about adhesions.
My surgical adhesions from my radical hysterectomy in 2000 were so bad that they were collapsing my colon ( thus causing IBS symptoms). The adhesions were discovered during a colonoscopy which was scheduled to see why I was in such awful and constant pain. This was about a year and a half after my hysterectomy.
Not sure if the infomation will be helpful, but it helped me immensely and in fact, my doctor was very interested in how I was able to get rid of the adhesions and the pain by using a simple technique (a very deep massage, but I go into great detail on the hysterectomy site...you should see it right away, otherwise let me know if you cannot find it. You can ask the doctor if it is okay for you to do this procedure. I cannot tell you how much I was able to get my life back afterwards.
Best of luck,
Mary
I, too had a LSH July 07 and experience the same thing. Every 2 wks, I feel like I am having a period. I have had adhesions removed in 03 and get the same feeling that it is back. My surgeon says that it is IBS and that all women have that period feeling once a month. I don't agree and am seeking help from my regular GYN. I am also having an endoscopy from my G.I. I am a little down, since I really really really didn't want to have a hysterectomy anyway.
I'm sorry to hear what you've been going through. I also had a hysterectomy and feel much the same way you do. I have endometriosis and still feel as though I'm having a period. My doctor hasn't been doing much to treat me either. They did find a cyst on my ovary but thus far they haven't done one thing about it. I also get bloating and a lot of discomfort. I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you but maybe we can help each other. If I get any information from my doctor that may help you I will most definitely post it. Would you mind to do the same? In the meantime I hope you at least get some relief from your discomfort and I will be praying for you.
I think you need a second opinion, and maybe a third. It sounds terrible and a doctor just saying they don't have a clue is not satisfactory.
