Angioedema possibly caused from hormones???

On March 11, 2022 I woke up with very swollen lips thinking I was having an allergic reaction to some sort of product I was using. I had a rash on the roof of my mouth that went into my throat a little. I called my dr and went into a little clinic to be evaluated and was prescribed a steroid. The steroid helped but did not completely control the swelling. I followed up with my pcp a couple of weeks later who referred me to an allergist. I was advised to not stop taking antihistamines since I was still having episodes. It took about 2 weeks to get in with the allergist, and by that point the episodes were happening more frequently. After describing all of my symptoms to him, he thought this was happening internally. Over the past 2 years, about 7-10 days before my period I’ve been getting vulvar irritation with dryness and a white discharge with an odor (with no BV present), swelling in hands and feet, and a fungal infection in corners of mouth (I have a prescription topical cream to treat). From what I can tell, the lip swelling tends to flare up when I ovulate, and starts to heal when my period ends (my cycles are about 23-25 days, and I’m not currently on birth control). Everything is else mentioned above also seems to calm down once my period ends. During the “episodes” my lips constantly feel like they are burning from the inside out and are almost soggy feeling. The swelling will go down, but never completely. Every substance that touches them seems to trigger it during this period and I am maxed out on antihistamines. The last breakout on my lips started on 04/25 (day of predicted ovulation) and did not start to heal until 05/15/22 (menstrual period from 05/9 - 05/14). All of my labs have come back normal. He ran a full autoimmune panel and some labs that detect internal swelling, and nothing. He also did allergy testing through labs since they don’t want me stopping the antihistamines, and all normal.

Do you like to eat certain foods more at certain times of the month?

What I'm thinking is that it does sound like an allergy, maybe to something you do in response to your cycle (such as for example, some women eat more chocolate during certain times in their cycles. If they happened to be allergic to an ingredient in chocolate, they could very well get the impression that the reaction was to the period or hormones, but it was more like one step removed from the hormones and was from the substance ingested.)

Have you stopped using the topical cream to treat the fungal infection at the corner of your mouth, to see if possibly your lips are reacting to that? People can get reactions to medications over time.
