I too am experiencing a similiar problem.  Including breast pain.  I believe that I have started into periomenopause.  Early this year, I has skipped my period for a few months, went through hot flashes, but then after 3 months it came back and I have gotten it every month.  It last long 7 -10 days.  And now I have a dark brown discharge (not a lot, but daily).

I do know that a sign of not ovulating in a cycle is having break through bleeding.  Your hormones might be a little out of whack.  Not enough progesterone in your body cause cause you to break through bleed.  I had this problem too when I was younger, I was put on bcp to regulate my periods and balance my hormones.  Talk to your gyn. about the discharge and possibly hormonal imbalance.
