I talked to her about it and she seemed to be understanding. She tried to get me into a gynecologist but none were available. We went to a general practice and the doctor asked me about my symptoms and said I most likely have a yeast infection and prescribed me 150mg fluconazole. She didn't examine me though, so hopefully it's not bv.
Thank you, I'll look them up and try to talk to her about it.
If you cannot make an appointment for yourself with the ob/gyn, you could do a few things. One is to make another appointment with the dermatologist and explain that you think the accutane is giving you a strange result in the vagina, drying and peeling, and ask if you could go onto something else. The derm will know if this is a common side effect. You could also tell your stepmom that you'd like an ob/gyn appointment because you think you have a UTI. (If you think she will question you closely, look up the symptoms before you tell her this.) If you have BV, it is not a life sentence, you will get a run of antibiotics to knock it out. But no matter what, I'd reconsider the Accutane, at least at that dose.
You're probably making the situation worse. Stop using soap down there- first of all. The vag has it's own little "eco-system" down there and even the mildest soap can disturb the pH. You have a couple options.. Take gauze, wrap a peeled garlic clove, pop it up there. Garlic has antibacterial properties. Also, look into Tea Tree. I'm sure you can find something of use with that. Sex doesn't equal disease.. unprotected anything does. ESPECIALLY masturbation. If your hands, or whatever you use- ISN'T clean.. there's your answer probably. I've never had anything like this.. but I have two sisters, and let me tell you they had their fair share. I learned a lot. Plus- I'm a naturally curious person. So research cures my boredom. I hope this helps? (could just be a nasty yeast infection too). And.. either way- you need to go to a gyno. Cause even if things go back to normal.. that doesn't mean it's gone away. Good luck doll.
