Bladder infection...

I was on antibiotics for a week for a bladder infection and i finished my last pill yesterday. While i was taking the pill my symptoms went away and everything was fine. Then i started itching after i urinated which i thought was due to a very mild yeast infection. So i took Diflucan yesterday as well. Then yesterday i noticed a slight ache/pain after i urinated similar to the one i had previously but not as bad. Does that mean that it is coming back? To be honest, i didn't really drink that much water while i was taking the antibiotics and i don't know if thats whats causing this. Do you think that maybe the antibiotics haven't completely worked and i should wait a few days or do you suggest i go back to the doctor? how long does it usually take to completely cure an infection? I was reading on the net and it said that it takes between seven days and fourteen days...is that true? The doc said that she thought the infection was spreading to my kidneys because i had a low grade fever and flank pain. But i was feeling fine up until two days ago. Any advice? Thanks

I used to get these all the time and there was a certain antibiotic (Macrobid I think) that would not work.  I would have to go back and get another kind (Bactrim) and then it would clear up.  Bacteria, I was told, can sometimes be specific and only respond to certain types of AB's.  I would just call my doc and tell them I didn't think it was gone.  They would just set me up to go to the lab and do another urine test and call me back with results.  Better to be sure b/c if it does get into kidneys, whewwww :( bad news!!!

Good luck,
Pam

agree w/ you prolly need antiobiotics but ask your dr about nettle tea or capsules.  they are safe to take and very good for you.  they help to keep away urinary infections if you are prone.....no joke, but check w/ your dr before taking anything
