Bleeding 12 years after hysterectomy

What could be the possible reasons for vaginal bleeding when a woman has not had her uterus or cervix for nearly 12 years? In 1994, I had a total hysterectomy (removal of my uterus, cervix, & one ovary). My cervix was removed because of pre-cancerous tissues. I began experiencing a vaginal discharge in Nov. 2005 after recommencing sexual relations after abstaining for six years.  Also in Nov. 2005 I noticed old blood coming from the vaginal area (it was brown) and a slight smell.  I thought maybe the sex was too hard. I was checked in December 2005 by my general practitioner for STDs and HIV.  All the rest results came back normal and/or negative.  The smell and discharge decreased; almost faded totally away.  But now in January 2006, although I have not had intercourse since November 2005, I began smelling the smell again and the discharge has increased.  It has changed in its look and consistency.  It has been white, milky, but lately it has been somewhat watery.  Recently I had a rush discharge where I had to run to the restroom. There was blood on my dress.  The blood is pink.  I went to my primary care physician who said I had a bladder infection because she thought I was bleeding from my urine are and she prescribed an antibiotic.  She did not do a pap smear.  I went to a different doctor later that day and she did a pap smear.  She confirmed that I was actually bleeding from the vaginal area, more specifcally I believe she said from my vaginal cuff.  I am nervously and anxiously awaiting the results.  What are possibilities?

I too had total hysterectomy and transvaginal mesh sling.  My surgery was July 2004 and have not been able to have intercourse with my husband since!  I also have some bleeding at times and clots.  I have been to many docs and specialists and they all say I am fine!  I take vagifem and hormones, so that is not the problem.  I was persistant and went to my primary doctors PA the other day and she is sending me to a Gynooncologist for further tests as she said, this is not a normal happening and it needs a strong work up!  Also I am currently looking into the lawsuits against the mesh as I have to catherize my self in order to pass urine and this all happened since my surgery in 2004.  I am tired of not enjoying life because of all the complications from 2004!  I hope and pray you get the full help you need as I completely understand how you feel!  Prayers to you and your husband, M

Okay so here I am joining the group eight years post complete hysterectomy ovaries tubes and uterus... Normal morning ... Getting ready for work going to the bathroom and 3/4 of the way through I feel I very raw feeling similar to that of after giving birth when the placenta comes off the uterus....I'm thinking what the heck was that.... I get up to wipe and the toilet is filled with blood and huge clots! First though is my period ...now? Then I know... Wait I have no gizzards ...lol...trip to the ER post haste.... I'm rushed in... After tests blood work cat scans etc.... The only alarming thing is a high white blood cell count.( I have never encountered this before FYI) So after trying to convince the Doc that I KNOW for sure it came from my vaJAyJay and not my urine... She still decides I must have a UTI and treats it as such. Cats can didn't show anything. Ironically, I did have an appt with the gyn the following morning.
Also, the pain was intense that I continued to have... I don't know if anyone else experienced any pain . She put me on CIPRO FOR A WEEK.
Went to the Gyn to ... She determined after examination that I might have had a blood lot lodged along the cuff after my hysterectomy that never was absorbed, and it broke through....weird I know... But I have had bizarre things happen in my health history so nothing shocks or surprises me. So the next plan of action is tomorrow I'm am slated for an ultrasound internal and external of which I will post the results in the hopes I can help some of you ladies....more too come ❤

I read this last night to find out what could be the cause. My mother had a hysterectomy at the age of 34. She just started bleeding last night. She is 55 now. I told her she needs to go to the ER. Because you should listen to your body....Bleeding is not a good sign in my eyes. I am super nervous.

So anyways, today (thank god) she did make an apt to her reg doc. They said she "might" have ovarian cancer. They just did a urine test. So now she is waiting to hear back from them and I am as well. I told her if she dosn't, to make an appointment at the OBGYN, today. I just don't like it when they say, you might have...its like, why even say that? I know that there are different stages and everything. But still...if they are not 100%? It could be something else. Just don't scare us like that.

..I hope this is helpful to anyone. :(
