Bleeding after sex?

Hi! So I had sex for the second time the other night and ever since I woke up, I've been bleeding a little bit. At first, it was light bleeding, but now it is a lot of blood. The first time I had sex, it bleed but never this much. I am about to get my period soon, so I guess I am just asking if someone could tell me the difference between my period or if it is something serious that is going on! Thank you!

With the symptoms that you have, it is highly likely that you have a urinary infection called Cystitis.  This is very common when having rampant sex and is sometimes referred to as the "Honeymoon Syndrome".

You need to see your doctor to get your urine checked to see if you do have a bladder infection.  If you are on your period, it would be difficult to do a urine sample test, but the doctor sometimes will just go on your symptoms.

Don't have sex until you are well again.

The important thing, even though it hurts to urinate, you MUST drink plenty of water to flush the bugs out.  2 litres a day is usually recommended, but you can drink more if you sweat a lot.  Drink throughout the day.

To help ease the pain and discomfort when you urinate, mix a teaspoonful of Bicarbonate of Soda in a glassful of water and drink it all down.  You can have another 2 glasses of this mix with 1 hour in between each drink.

You can purchase Bicarbonate of Soda from the supermarket and you will find it on the baking shelf, you can also purchase this from the pharmacy.  Pharmacies now also sell a solution for you to drink that will ease the symptoms of cystitis. As far as I am aware, this is not an antibiotic.

The Bicarbonate of Soda neutralises the acidic urine that is causing the symptoms.  You can also squeeze fresh lemon juice into water and drink that for a similar effect.  Contrary to what you may think, lemon juice although being acidic, does change its composition when in the stomach.

Don't forget to drink your water and book an appointment to see your doctor if you are having burning sensations and hurting when you urinate.

If you are due in a few days time, the bleed that you are having is probably your period.

I presume that you have no pain or discomfort when you urinate.
