Breast pain

Hi, I am 30 years old and have a 14 year old son. Never in the 14 years have I ever had sick pain like I do now in the past year. 2 weeks before my period both of my breast swell up and get dark blue rings around the nipples. They hurt so bad that I can't sleep and it even hurts into my armpits. Not sure what it could be. I haven't been on birth control.fir 6 or 7 years now and need some insight! Thanks

Does the nipple ever look white in color? Does the pain seem to come when yo u are chilly or exposed to even slight cold temperatures, or when you get goosebumps? If yes, it could be Reynaud's Phenomenon, which causes severe pain in the entire breast, and is often misdiagnosed as Candida infection of the breast. The  of those colorsctelling signs are pain precipitated by cold, and color changes in the nipple, with the color changes being white, blue, and red. During the process of losing circulation, experiencing vasospasm, and then the returning of regular blood flow to the nipple, you will see  either 2 of the above mentioned colors  (biphasic color change), or all  3 (triphasic color change). The treatment is easy(usually short term use of Procardia, a betablocker). Unfortunately, a lot of people have never heard of this problem so they have no idea what is wrong with them, and in my case at least, my OBGYN was doubtful that I had something so rare, so I had to really convince her, all the while I suffered and researched much, and eventually she realized I was right, after visually observing the color changes in person.

Hi there and welcome.  I'm not sure dear.  You seem to be having a hormonal issue or change.  Is it close to your annual exam so that you can ask your doctor.  I do get breast tenderness which is normal pre period but yours sounds extreme and 'new'.  I'd try to get checked out by your doctor.  peace and let us know what they say.
