Cervical mucus and fertility

My husband and I are not currently trying to conceive, but we are using Natural Family Planning to avoid pregnancy.  I have a very regular, very predictable cycle.  I understand what signs and symptoms to look for, I check my cervical mucus daily, and I take my basal body temperature at the same time every morning.  According to what I've read, it is normal for a woman to go through a "dry" spell just after her period.  As she gets closer to ovulation, her mucus should become "egg-white" in consistency.  I also understand that all women are different and will therefore experience their cycles differently. I'm sure I'm no exception, but I just wondered why my mucus is purely egg-white from the start.  I generally ovulate 12 to 16 days into my cycle, which means I usually have between 7 to 10 days of purely egg-white mucus.  Does this speak at all to my fertility???

I personally find discharge/mucus etc. hard to judge what is going on.  I TTC for a long time and read gobs about it but would not feel comfortable using it as a predictor for true ovulation to prevent pregnancy.  I don't think it speaks to fertility---  you have the same fertile window period as everyone else hon.  good luck
