Confussed about hot and cold flashes

For the past 2 weeks I've started to experience hotflashes, the first was my left arm and shoulder, and lasted a few minutes.  then twice this week I had hotflashes on my head lasting for several hours.  I felt like my brain was on fire, and no ice pack was cold enough to help (and I hate cold and ice packs).  Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and felt like there was an ice pack on the opposite side of my head.  I've now had that sensation for 10 hrs.  I understand that hotflashes are just a right of passage (I'm 42), but should only last a few minutes.  I've read about cold flashes, but they are described more as chills, and I don't have the chills. I am otherwise healthy.  Any thoughts?

not sure what is really going on.  I am very late for my period and am suffering from major cramps (about 3 weeks now). I spot here and there but no flow.  My cycle is normally 24/25 days, with the occasional 27/28 day cycle.  I am now up to day 43.  I am definitely NOT pregnant.  I should note I am 41 years old.  Could this be super early menopause?  I feel like I am getting it at any moment but nothing there.  Of course I will make an appointment if I miss next period.  Hopefully not.

ended up in the ER, after collasping at work, after nausia, headache, and hot flash (working in the kitchen and it was 85-90 degrees).  Went in dizzy, hyperventilating and was told I had low blood sugar and was dehydrated.  after an hour they finally let me have an icepack for my head.  after 4 hours I was given an IV with zophran and morphine, followed by dilaudid, I had blood tests and ct that all came back normal.  and was told I had a migraine.  Before leaving my bp was 83/45 (they said that was because of the meds).  the following day I went to my reguar dr. My bp was 90/65 (normal for me is 110/70ish) and I had maybe 2 hrs of sleep in 24 hrs (narcodic meds wire me). After examinining me and asking me questions.  it was discovered that my sinuses are inflamed and most likely triggered the migraine.  She gave me a couple of sleeping pills (at this point she felt I needed sleep more than anything), nasal spray, and a script for a z pack and imitrex.  the hot and cold sensations are most likely signs that a migraine is about to hit.  Not sure why my symtoms have changed, but knowing makes things less overwhelming and more managable.

Have you discussed this with your physician yet?  If not...do.
