Constant High Core Body Temperature/Not Fever

I am a 32 year old female, recently (January) off the birth control pill suffering from a core body temperature that always lies within the range of 99.0-99.6
I never had this problem until getting off the pill, and actually have always felt more cold than warm. I feel constantly warm, and if it is hot outside I hate it, I feel too hot. When others are comfortable I feel HOT.
I had my thyroid checked and it is fine.
My obgyn has no answers for me but to say it sounds similar to pre-menopausal symptoms (feeling hot).
She said a possible imbalance in the hormones from being on the pill could maybe affect me, but by now (being off the pill since January) my hormones should have righted themselves.
My primary doctor said it is nothing to worry about since it isn't too high... it is not a fever... but it is really annoying and uncomfortable and I can't possibly be the only one who has this problem???
Clearly something is differnt than before or not functioning as well... what could it be???

The reason why suggestions such as "menopausal" etc are given is because sometimes the reason behind it is menopausal. There could be so  many reasons behind it, but everyone is different, so what works for one doesn't have to work for another. I understand it can be frustrating, but I'm sure they are just trying to help, so you can eliminate what causes your high temp in this case.
I have a friend who suffers from the same thing. I wish I could help her, and by reading this blog I'm glad I can report back to her that she's not the only one, but it seems that while we are finding solutions and new drugs for serious things like cancer, we are still far away from discovering what can be done about something like this and though it may not be fatal, it definitely is difficult to live with and it can affect your life and people around you in so many ways.
From what I gathered after reading all the comments, the summary is:
causes could be: thyroid gland, menopause, hormone imbalance, psychological problems or traumas.
Possible treatment: keep cool (obvious) ;-), see psychologist (or psychotherapist), have a full blood count check, perhaps take some herbal teas or tinctures for hormone imbalance (this will work for menopause as well).
Did I miss anything? :)

I took mine at work today and it was 37.8 (100.4). I feel fine and only did it cause it was it was higher yesterday. I’m always higher than average. Last week I was feeling really tired and it was 38.3 - all on the same on a hospital thermometer (I’m a nurse). I’ve always been a hot, sweaty person  - I get hot and I stay hot for ages - I’m overweight now but I had this problem when I was slim - no one has an answe - I might go to an Ayurveda doctor - thanks for the suggestion.

Ive been like that since a teenager. I am 26 now and my temp goes fron 97.5 - 100.3 the most common is 99.6 and i worried too cause sometines it will be 100.1 100.3 so on for a couple days then be 97.5 i can only explain the vast range by me letting my emotions control my body. Like i am a very anxious person or tightly wound if you prefer that. I am obbsessive about taking my temp because its grand fluctuations and ive noticed that when i have more stress its higger and when i am not worried about bills or work or w.e it is 99.sonething but not all the way too 100.something. and if o do get sick forget it my temp is hard to judge when i jave a fever so o usually just go by how i feel. So i hope this helps a little even if it is very long winded. Crystal

Ditto.  All of the above.  Even invites same. Friends know. They have blankets I put on them in summer visiting me as they freeze. Funny if it wasn't such a pain. I have rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed 12 years ago. In my 30s I would get swollen hands and overheat. I am 64 now. I am reading this as it's high summer here in Australia now and once again I google to find out why I am hot! I have aircon, a special cool misting fan, a gel mat to lie on which draws the heat out of body (it's fantastic) but it is burning then so I move it off the bed and it cools down over a few hours. And a dripping wet cloth on my head. This is to cool me in my bedroom. Then when it 'turns' meaning others would be freezing, and I have cooled, suddenly my toes are freezing but only my toes. It can take 90 minutes to cool me down but my body still heats the bed I lie on.  Ugh! I have found if I am really in need of rest that I get extra burning skin.  I don't like going out either in the heat. I have hand fans, a gel to swipe under the eyes. L'oreal in an orange slim Rollon   It's men's products.  It's so cool to put on. My hair on my neck kills me. The heat. I wear loose fitting clothes. Good luck to all of us.  KathyW Qld Australia.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their experiences with this phenomenon.
I  share the problem of a high core temperature which causes sweating, shortness of breath, increase heart rate and general discomfort.

Two things that have helped me control this have been breathing exercises (meditation), and consistent cardiovascular exercise.
You can learn to control your body temperature and "cool-yourself-down" if you practice it. For me, it's a lot about breathing and feeling the sweat evaporate off of my skin. Feel your pulse, close your eyes and focus on your heart-rate as you breath slowly.
I hope this helps. Great thread, thank you to the OP for starting it.

Hi, i'm only 14 and i've had that problem all my life. My body temperature is constantly around 100-101 degrees! it ruins my sleep and i can't wear anything but t-shirts, even in the winter. The doctors can't see what's wrong, and says that it probably dosn't matter, but i'm worried! I'm afraid that there's something wrong, and i've heard that high body temperature can cause faster aging of the cells! Besides that i have fever several times through the day. Like one minute i'm burning hot(104-106) and my friends says that i'm sick and should go home, and the next i'm at my 'normal' temperature. it is extremely irritating. Don't know what to do.

I was reading your comment and cant believe how similar your symptons are. Im a 40 year old male but have been dealing with this since I was in elementary school. My body is constantly hot and always sweating. I also have to go outside after a shower and getting ready cause I feel like im on fire and sweating by the gallon. I live in Pennsylvania and I even sweat when its freezing outside. I have been fighting this for ever and is very exhausting and embarrassing. It affects everything I do in life even socially. I also find that after eating is the worst and also have to lay down with a fan blowing on my face until I cool down which is only temporary. Certain types of clothing or fabric seems to also make it worse. Im not overweight either cause I don't eat much because it makes me so hot. I have to change my shirt at least 3 times a day or more. Because im always so hot and sweating I am constantly thirsty and always have a water with me. I know how you feel and its horrible feeling like your on fire all the time. I have been asking my doctor for years and never can figure out what is going on. Also with me I know if my wife is laying next to me and touching my bare skin to hers also triggers my temp to get to hot. I was wondering if you sleep with a fan blowing on you? I know I do and have been since I was a kid. I always wondered if that fan blowing on my face all night would affect my body temp during the day? Well I hope you figure it out and share it with me and I will likewise.

I am a 52 year old woman and I have had this problem all my life.  As one of 5 kids, I was the only one constantly boiling.  I can't stand central heating, closed windows or clothes with sleeves.  I am constantly soaking wet and I get huge sweat patches on my clothes.  My face always looks shiny and I can feel sweat run down my scalp within a pony tail. For many years I have taken the anti depressant Venlafaxine and for 18 months I have been taking meds for ADHD.  However, until 19 years old I had never taken a tablet and I have been boiling hot since my first memories.  It is impossible for me to go to a hot country, as I can't even stand the UK temperature in an average winter.  I am always embarrassed because it is impossible to cover up.  All my family just think I am odd and I don't blame them.  I strip of most of my clothes as soon as I get home, as I feel I am suffocating and can't catch my breath.  Life is a nightmare.

Hello, i have googled this specific question with the intention of answering all the queries that exist on the web with regards to this question because i myself had been suffering this for the last 4 months and it made me feel really sick, uneasy and tired and i hated the feeling of having to always keep myself in cool places and have to have three baths a day to just feel normal.

I finally found the cure in an unlikely place. I have always had a little feeling of sickness when in warm places since a young age, but it got really bad 4 months back and every normal doctor i went to did all medical checks but all parameters such as blood pressure, temperature, and blood test etc were normal but i still was feeling heat, since i am in india somebody suggested i visit an ayurvedic doctor(ayurvedic doctors are doctors who prescribe medicines and treatments according to an ancient indian text called the ayurveda http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayurveda)

So i made the trip to a well known ayurvedic doctor at the ayurvedic rejuvenation center at an ashram and the doctor there just felt my wrist and started her diagnosis, and without me even telling her the symptoms she said everything is normal but there is a lot of heat trapped in your system and she said it is not a very rare problem, she said that no mainstream medicine doctor has been able to diagnose it till date cause there is no such thing as body heat in allopathic(mainstream) medicine there is only temperature, she said in ayurveda it's called ushna(heat) and she said no need to go into the cause of it just have these ayurvedic medicines and i have been having them for three days now and i can feel the heat slowly leaving my system, i am suppose to take the medicines for 40 days but just today being the third day i am already feelin 60% better and ease has returned to the whole body and she also gave me some medicines to repair the minor damage to the system from this heat, so i would like to suggest to anybody who is having this problem that if no doctor is able to help then please no matter what country you are in please look for a good ayurvedic or siddha(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siddha_medicine) doctor, nowadays they are all over the world.
hope you'll all get okay soon cause i have been through the frustrating experience of going to many mainstream doctors and not finding a solution till this happened and i feel like a real fool for doubting that any alternative medicine science could actually have something very simple but powerful in it.

I have this issue to. I'm a 28 year old Female. I do get anxiety attacks at least once a week , sometimes more. I went to the doctor 3 times in the last 4 months and my Temp is always 99.5. My nurse today told me it's my normal temp. I'm having a hard time believing it's my normal temp.. I don't feel like I have a fever, and nothing is out of the ordinary. I get Hot if it's hot and I get cold if it's cold, weather I'm outside or inside, just like other people would that have normal body temps. I am always nervous before I go to a Doctor, could this be the reason? Also, my temp was taken at 8:30am by my doctor, so it's not like I have a lower body temp in the morning like I have read is supposed to be normal. Also, there has been a few times I checked my body temp at night and it says I'm 97.6. It isn't as good as the oral thermometer at my doctors office so it could be inaccurate. Anyway I got so scared I had my doctor give me a blood test and test me for anything and every thing because I am losing sleep over this and worry about it way too much.

There is a form of Tibetan meditation called "tummo". The monks in Tibet are able to lower or raise their core temperatures simply by thought. The researcher Dr. Herbert Benson conducted many studies on this form of meditation and found that the monks could lower their basal temperatures to extremely low degrees as well as raise them to very high numbers with only beneficial effects on the body.

So for those who are experiencing body temps that are too high, try meditation. Imagine your body cooling down in your core for about 10-20 minutes daily and you'll find that you can do this. Only in the West do we believe we are slaves to our physiology. For those with too low temps, (me), I use Tummo to keep myself at a comfortable warmth. My temps have dropped and I've noticed weight gain and that I'm cold all the time so I use Tummo meditation to raise my temps and it is working wonderfully. Feel free to google "tummo" or "g-tummo" to find out more.
