Does any else suffer from muscle spasm in their vagina?

I have been suffering muscle spasm in my vagina for 9 months now and it is getting worse and worse.  I have been to a gynaecologist who diagnosed vulvodynia and suggested hydrotherapy to ease it.  Also prescribed a muscle relaxant tablet.  Neither have worked.    Having looked at some of the descriptions of vulvodynia I'm more inclined to think I have Clitorodynia.   I do not get discharge or have any infection.   It is just a constant pulsing/throbbing in the vaginal area, both inside and outside.  It feels alternatively like my insides are being pulled out or that something hard, flat and sharp is being forced against that area.  Sometimes it gives a feeling of sexual arousal or needing to go to the toilet.   It is with me all my waking hours and the only relief I get is when I'm standing and walking about.  I dread having to sit down as I know it'll start up immediately.  I haven't had a decent night's sleep for 9 months as it takes ages for me to drop off and if I wake in the night it starts up and I cannot go to sleep again.  It spoils my life as I am aware of it the whole time and when driving it is distracting as I cannot even shift my position to ease it for a second.   If anyone else suffers in this way have they found anything which helps?  It is a nightmare.

Anyone have an update? I've been getting these spaces for 3 years now. Makes it so hard to relax because that whole area contracts when I relax my muscle. Ive noticed drinking alcohol makes it worse and that taking magnesium citrate pills work. Tight clothing in the area also makes me spasms. It feels so weird, its not pleasurable but not painful and it feels more external, like the area around my urethral/clitoris is contracting. I'm so lost and confused and I KNOW it isn't psychological.

I just had 3 and 1/2 parathyroid removed, and had this issue. After speaking with my Dr. She recommended vitamin d and magnesium suppliment, after testing. The issue is all but gone, still occasional outbreak but eat a banana and it's gone.

You can try kegel exercise or search for yoga appropriate for your condition.

My daughter suffers from vulvodynia. I took her to a consultant who performed an ultrasound scan . After discussing the condition with colleagues she referred my daughter to a physiotherapist who specialised in gynae problems. She had 6-8 sessions which helped tremendously.
This treatment was done privately as our GP advised the NHS waiting list was 1.5 yrs for an initial consultation and my daughter was in a lot of pain.

I too have had these spasms. I had them about a year ago and then they came back with vengeance and I've been dealing with it for almost 6 months. It feels like lighting on my left inner wall and only pressure makes it feel ok, but it's not like I can walk around holding myself. Lol. It hurts like crazy and sometimes im completely engulfed with the pain to not concentrate on what I'm doing.  I went to a pelvic physical therapy specialist a year ago and she said I was internally tight. Gave me an exercise to loosen me up, basically sitting on a rolled up towel between my legs for15 min.  It gives you a burning sensation but sometimes helps for the day. After going to a lot of doctors, I haven't found relief and it's really affecting my life. Anyone with a medicine they know that works? Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
These vaginal spasms can be due to psychological reasons, endometriosis, infections of the genital tract, alterations in the balance of salts in the bloodstream (such as a high or low calcium, sodium or potassium level),neuropathy(esp in diabetes),hypothyroidism and nerve compression. You should consult a gynecologist and get an ultrasound uterus and a comprehensive profile of investigations done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
