Enlarged very Sore Breasts

Ok so i had an IUD inserted about a month ago and when i went to the doctors for a check up she said it was pretty much falling out so she pulled it out because i was still in the time frame to get a new one. I bled for a little less then a week after that then was fine. I was suppose to get my period about 3 days ago and my breasts are very inlarged [almost a full cup size] and very tender! I took a pregnancy test and it said negative. Did i just take it to early? What else could be causing my breasts to be so enlarged and swollen? This is NOT normal for my body.

I have had a hormonal imbalance since I was 20 I am now 36 I have a 8 year old son and it was very difficult getting pregnant with him he is our only pregnancy we have been trying for years for another but no luck and I am having trouble ovulating which that has always been the case so it was a miracle to have our son but now I had a period 2 weeks ago very normal before my period I was noticing very sensitive to smell nausea but I had my period anyway so I don't do pregnancy test because I get disappointed n they're always negative even when I was pregnant with my son but now my nipples are extremely sore very sensitive to the touch and my nipples stay very hard and my areola looks bigger and darker some cramps which this has never happened before even with my body being so confusing I took a hpt 2 days ago n negative plus I already had period could this just be I'm getting older or what I know it's not my hormones because I've been dealing with that since I was 20! My poor breast!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Hormonal imbalance can also cause soreness of breasts. The various causes of breast soreness are premenstrual syndrome, hormone therapy, pregnancy and breast feeding, fibrocystic disease, use of oral contraceptives and rarely a breast malignancy. To confirm the status of pregnancy get your serum HCG levels checked.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
