Horrible itch

I have a yeast infection from taking Suprax for a UTI. Doctor gave me 2 doses of diflucan to be taken 3 days apart. I took the 2nd pill tonight. The discomfort was still bad so they had me add Monistat and Vagisil on day 2 after my first pill. The Monistat made me sting so badly and itch even more, that I used  Vagisil extra strength 20% benzocaine probably 7 times (small amounts less than 1 inch) today. (Is that dangerous?)

The itching has kept me awake all night.  How long should this take to calm down? I haven't had a yeast infection since I was young. (Age 63 now).

I'm wondering if Desitin would have been better with the Diflucan!

I couldn't stand it and went back to the office. The old doctor filling in said the monistat and vagisil plus scratching and rubbing have caused an irritation type reaction and he gave me 7 days of a steroid cream.  He said this should help pretty quickly.

He counted back and they've given me Keflex twice (UTI and sinus), Amoxicillin for 10 days, Cipro for 36 hours and Suprax for 10 days in 3 months.

He was very kind but I overheard the first nurse I saw today say she thought I was addicted to attention!  I'm guessing she's never had a bad yeast infection.

Well my doc is out on Spring Break and the guy filling in for him won't answer my question without a full physical.  His nurse said the Monistat is known to worsen itching, burning and stinging especially if you've scratched or rubbed (I was itching so badly that I used cheap toilet paper to scratch myself).  So, I can either try Gyne-Lotrimen or wait out the pill I took last night and use Desitin type stuff to help soothe what's raw.

I'm going to try the Desitin and pray the itch dies down soon!  I'm on four more days of antibiotics for the UTI!

I was buying Lotrimin and the female pharmacist just had a heart attack and insisted that I buy Monistat!

I'm going to call my doc when he opens since he had said to use the Monistat and see if there is anything else that might help with the external itch til the Difulcan 2nd dose (last night) kicks in.

I'm sooooooo sleepy!

Also, wash all towels, sheets and especially underwear in hot water and using measured Tide and some baking soda.

Consider decreasing sugar in your diet to help get things under control.  A treatment that may be soothing is to get unsweetened plain yogurt and putting it inside.  You can read about this on line.  I've never tried it but people do it and it sounds soothing.  I get irritation from using most creams.  I have the best luck just using regular Lotrimin cream.  I don't react badly to that.
