How can you regulate your menstrual cycle?

MY QUESTION IS, HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE VERY IRREGULAR MENSTRUAL CYCLES? I DIDN'T HAVE A PERIOD FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS THEN I STARTED FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS AND NOW 2 MONTHS LATER I STARTED AND WENT 6 FULL DAYS. IS THERE ANYTHING WOMEN CAN DO ABOUT IRREGULAR MENSTRUAL CYCLES? MY DOCTOR HAS SUGGESTED BIRTH CONTROL BUT I'M WANTING TO GET PREGNANT. WOULD DEFEAT THE PURPOSE I THINK, I'M ALL OUT OF IDEAS.

Can you get Irregular periods from birth control by forgetting to take them one day and then taking it the next?

Clearly it was a misunderstanding. So...where's your advice miss_sun? Practice what you preach.

I would talk to the doctor again and explain the concern with starting bc and explain again that you're ttc. If that doctor doesn't have suggestions get a second opinion. If youre looking for a more natural alternative a chiropractor might be helpful. I've heard a lot of success stories from couples that had advice from chiropractors. Good luck!

I had the same issue, but it was due to weight gain, and no exercise. Just start exercising, eat healthy and try to lose weight....it works!

my period comes every 6 months now, and its been like that for two years now..im 21 and have been trying to get pregnant..three different doctors have told me that it would be impossible to get pregnant with my period so irregular like it was, so i changed drs and even she said the same thing..so i didnt use a condom and next thing i found out, i was pregnant..almost a month later tho, i had a miscarriage..while i was pregnant, i got my period a week after finding out..it usually lasts 7 days, but this time it only lasted 5..then i had vaginal bleeding that wasn't normal..my doc said it was most likely implantation bleeding and she was scared that i mite miscarry..wen i did research on what implantation bleeding was, it said that its most likely wen the walls of your uterus aren't as soft as they should be..every month or wenever you have your period, the uterus lining fills up wit blood and releases it, becoming your period..but since mine only comes twice a year now, my lining must've been harder and it was hard for my fetus to implant itself properly..maybe you can't get pregnant for other reasons, but though i was able to get pregnant, i wasn't able to keep it alive..im trying to find ways to regulate my period cuz i really want to get pregnant, maybe that will help me :/ weird thing is that my period came exactly one month after the one i got wen i was pregnant..i wonder if itll come next month or if itll disappear until 6 months from now again lol

I have been experiencing irregular cycles for the past number of months. I will spot for a week, then bleed heavily for a week. This occurs every 2 weeks. I have gone to see my family doctor, who ordered blood work, which was all normal. I also had an appointment with gynecologist, and she said all was fine and this maybe the way things are going to be now. I am only 34 years, and currently have 3 children. I am trying to get pregnant for our 4th child, but I don't know how much more disappointment I can take. I am tired of these irregular cycles. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. My daughter is 3 1/2 and ever since I've had her my cycle has been irregular.I know it's frustrating when you are ttc and you can't even able regulate your cycle but don't stress because that only makes things worse. I've tried Vitex with no results. I want to try wild yam or wild yam supplements but I have yet to find it in my area and I am very reluctant to buy that online. But I will be trying that soon. If this doesn't work then I think I'm going to go back on the pill for a couple of months to regulate my cycle and then i will ttc again. Good luck and baby dust to you

I have PCOD and have had an irregular period for over 10 years now. I do not get my period at all unless I am taking birth control or a hormonal tincture that I have made from my Herbolist. For myself in the end, after 7 years of being on it, the pill made me really sick. That is when I decided to go the natural route. My tincture is in a 250 ML bottle and it includes, Black Cohosh, Blue Cohosh, Dandelian Root, Ladies Mantle and Yarrow Root. I have never had an issue once and I am feeling more myself since being on the tincture then I ever have.

She said she had a doctors percription, you have to go to the pharmacy to pick it up! Duh, they dont just give it to u in the doc's office.

Also, its not your place to be rude to ger because she didnt know when to start wearing it. Thats why she asked for help.

So instead of shooting people down, how bout try and give some real advice, or just dont say anything at all!

I was getting confused on when my period actually started.  Did it start when I started seeing brown spotting or did it start when I saw the bright red blood?  I called my GYNO and spoke to the nurse.  She said your period starts when you see the brownish spotting.  This is considered the start of your period.

My last period started on August 5th.  On August 31st in the afternoon, I noticed brown spotting.  This brown spotting has been very light.  As of September 4th, I am still experiencing this light brownish spotting.  My breasts are bigger and tender.  I have experienced no bright red blood or spotting.  I seem to be hungrier but I think it might have to do with the fact I am working out more.  My periods have been averaging a 30-31 day cycle.  Which means my period should've started on September 3rd.  Could I be pregnant?  Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

first off birth controls not 100% so even if you do have sex with the patch or pill you still run the risk of getting pregnant unless you use a condom as well and even then theres a very small chance

second i would suggest you go to the doctors and get proper birth control so that you know how to take it correctly because clearly you dont kno whne your supposed to start it and birth control should be something you get from a doctor rather than just the pharmacy and i didnt think they had bc over the counter

thirdly the patch is horrible. i use to be on it and hated it and now there are so many things out about how horrible it is and the terrible side effects that it causes.

Please avoid sythentic hormones, they are very bad for you. Buy natural progesterone cream, use the reccomended dosage for mensturating women. It will regulate your period, and you need enough progesterone to be able to concieve anyway! I use this method, and it regulates my cycle!

It's important to find out why you have irregular periods.  Most often it is b/c you are not Oing for some reason.  This is not a quick fix, but I would suggest trying Vitex.  Vitex is an herb that has an excellent track record for regulating periods and increasing fertility.  You should also start BBT charting b/c this is an excellent way to confirm that you have Oed.  OPK's are less reliable b/c some women get the LH surge but still do not O.  You could still try them, but again, they will not confirm O, they will just detect the presence of LH.  If you go to the maternal forum there is a post called "Vitex" from last week.  Just scroll down b/c it's probably buried a bit by now.  Anyway, that should help answer some of your questions.  Best of luck to you.  Keep us posted onthings.
