I am terrified, bloody discharge- Please help!!!!!!!

This began a while back, where I had coming and going symptoms of what was yeast and BV for nearly year, which went untreated solely because I had absolutely no funds to pay for treatment! I did not seek help until recently when I began to have pains in my lower pelvis. An emergency visit did a pap, outer and inner ultrasound, blood tests, everything shy of a biopsy to check and was only given an abnormal pap result and sent home with pain killers and medicine for a uti. I did not have this intense spotting immediately after the visit, but a day later began to have bloody pink discharge for a week.

After an entire cycle, I went to the gyno and got a swab which was a positive for BV and Yeast. I was given one dose medicine for the yeast and a week prescription of metronidazole of two tablets per day. The yeast and BV seemed to go away, but while taking this I began spotting again- my period had lasted three days prior to taking this medicine and then 14 days in I had brown bloody discharge, then clear discharge with bleeding then what looked like a light period! It was enough to stain but not enough to wear a pad. This terrified me! The discharge turned pink again and I was still bleeding more than regular spotting looks like. I went to the gyno again, and she only prescribed me birth control to take for two months. The bleeding stopped of course, but I still have the cloudy discharge!

My grandmother died of uterine cancer, so I am scared to death! I am 20 and have not had sex before, and the mid cycle bleeding began before I had ever taken birth control! Please help me I am so scared!!! I don’t know what to do anymore!

So, you describe a very common pattern.  UTI's are urinary tract infections. You get antibiotics for that and start taking them.  Then because antibiotics mess up the PH of the vagina, yeast infections or BV can start. This irritates the vagina, blood can mix with discharge.  You get more antibiotics for the BV *yeast is not treated with antibiotics) and then more yeast.  It's a pain.  Do not think cancer.  That would be highly unlikely.  Your grandmother was much older than you and you are so young, you are not in a worrisome category.  :>)  At your next visit, ask your doctor about it but really, I would not worry about that.

You can try probiotics (either supplement pill or yogurt or smoothie you buy at grocery), one day monostat ovule works well for yeast in my opinion, wear cotton undies and change them often. Hope it all clears up soon!  good luck
