I think I may have a Staff Infection?

Yesterday afternoon I found a lump in my pubic region. It's red and swollen and it hurts when it is touched. I thought it was a pimple but it is almost the size of a nickel and very very tender. I tried to squeeze it(which was very painful) and some puss came out, it was yellowish and then went clear and I tried to drain it and continued draining for about 20 min until I couldn't take it anymore. Then i took a shower to clean it and after my shower it was already back to it's original size and still had some clear liquid coming out. It is starting to worry me and frankly it's really disgusting. my problem is i don't have health insurance at the moment as I just changed jobs and my new health care hasn't kicked in. So if it is a staff infection how much does treatment usually cost and if i just keep draining it will it go away on it's own?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I did go to the free clinic and found out what it was. I had an ingrown hair but it was infected so they just gave me some antibiotics for the infection and thankfully it's almost gone now!! And it no longer huts lol

I agree with GRose. If it was an ingrown hair, I don't think it would be "the size of a nickel". You should definitely look up a free clinic in your area.

Doesn't sound like an ingrown hair bump to me, look for a free clinic in your area.

Hi I have had something similar to this and it ws a hair bump which can cause a staff infection. I always had to squeeze mine until blood started to come out but eventually I got the ingrown hair out with tweezers then it goes away. If there is a hair in it the bump hurts like crazy. If it is staff depending on what type of antibiotic they give you some are fairly cheap (on the walmart 4.00 list) and some are free at publix's depending on the amount. Hope this helps.
Best of luck!
