I won't stop bleeding.

So firstly, I'm not pregnant anymore but I didn't know where to post this. I'll give some history.. as I guess that's important.

I'm 25 years old. Do not smoke or drink alcohol and I am not overweight but also not underweight. It was an unplanned pregnancy with long term partner. Only using condoms. I was diagnosed last year with PCOS but that never caused issues with my period, they have always been pretty much exactly on time. I did have pain with PCOS tho.

But I shall point out that during my pregnancy, they had to do multiple scans due to bleeding and I asked the sonography if they could see any cysts on my ovaries (if that may be the cause) and she said that there was no cyst on my ovaries. So my symptoms cannot be due to that, I seem to be going through a phase of being ok with my PCOS. Thankfully.

Last day of my last period was October 30th. I conceived around November 14th (guess) I had a (natural) miscarriage in December 2018 at 6 weeks gestational age. I did have retained tissue, but by January 5th I was given the all clear with an ultrasound. However, the bleeding, severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and headaches lasted from when I started bleeding the first week of December 2017 until the first week of April 2018. My doctor's insisted I just had to ride it out. Which I did with a great amount of difficulty and suffering, I never felt right and it interfered with my daily life, I felt faint all the time and unwell. I was losing a lot of blood each day, but they still insisted there was nothing to be concerned about. It was like an extremely heavy period, every  day. The bleeding stopped the first week of April 2018, but the pain continued. I was eventually given Metronidazole on 23rd April to take for five days. It did take some of my urinary tract infection symptoms away, but the pain in my abdomen was still there and still traveled up to just below my ribs and into my back in the right hand side.

Anyway, (suspected) periods are as follows..

April 25th until April 30th 2018. Baring in mind I had only stopped bleeding first week of April. Can this be a true period? I don't know tbh.

A few weeks after there was some blood tinged discharge, but nothing major and not smelly.

Second Period - May 25th until Wednesday 30th May 2018.

No bleeding in the days after, but small amount of white discharge June 5th (no blood/smell) and then this is the bit that's no concerning me.

Exactly 1 week after my period ends on May30th I start bleeding heavily on Wednesday June 6th 2018.

It is very, very heavy, bright red blood. The doctors once again aren't concerned but after I have contacted them twice in row they have agreed to give me another Ultra sound on June 17th, it's a long way away when I'm panicking. And these past two days, I have had sharp pains in my left leg and my right forearm. I am unsure if they are connected but they are new, not exercise related and quite painful.

I have done a pregnancy test today and multiple times throughout all this to ensure and they have all been negative since the miscarriage. I have no STD's as I have been checked.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be or has anyone experienced this too? And thank you so much in advance. I feel that my doctor's are little to no help so any advice or similar stories would reassure me. Thank you x

Gosh, what a roller coaster you have been on.  I'm sure sorry about that and very sorry for your loss with the miscarriage.  I'm surprised your doctor allowed you to bleed for such a long time and letting you 'ride it out'.  Heck, I'd be afraid you are anemic at this point!  Any thoughts on moving to a new doctor or at least getting a second opinion?  I'd opt for that if it were me.  Your hormones sound greatly out of whack.   Some women do bleed for long periods of time after a miscarriage.  They usually try to stop this though with things like an estrogen shot. Some women do temporarily go on BC pills too to get things regulated again.   If the bleeding continues, they often look for another reason such as arteriovenous malformation.  I know this has to be really frustrating.  And your doctors are not really being proactive in helping you.  Can you switch to a different doctor?

Thank you so much for your reply and kind words, thing is where I live it's such a small town. There are other doctors but they aren't accepting new patients. My partner, who is a pharmacist gave me some iron tablets. He was worried about be becoming anemic also, I have had blood tests and due to the iron tablets I'm ok. But the worrying thing is bleeding, I'm scared it's going to keep continuing again. When the bleeding started again on Wednesday, I went straight to my doctor's surgery, the doctor didn't seem to phased by it. He did book me in for the ultrasound, but advised it could take up to 8 weeks for an appointment. I left feeling deflated and unheard, I called the next day (Thursday)  and spoke with a different doctor she gave me more antibiotics, metronidazole again and bumped my scan upto an emergency, it's now booked for June 17th. I appreciated that alot and felt that should have been what the first doctor did. I had no idea they could offer estrogen shots, I think I will mention this to my doctor. I have no idea what arteriovenous malformation is, but I will Google this now. A small part of me had thought I had been bothering my doctor's unnecessarily with my concerns, but I'm glad that someone else thinks I'm right to be concerned. I know June 17th isn't really that far away, but it feels like forever right now. I'm worried that it's something serious, from what I've read online I haven't seen anyone who has bled as much as I have. I've kinda got to the point where I almost give up! But thank you again for your reply x
