Irregular periods

I'm 21 and until recently I was always pretty much on my period some days it would be really bad others light and others non-existant but there was never any time frame to any of it, so for the past say 3 years i've always worn pads just in case. Recently however say over the past 3months I have been bleeding less however my periods have been really bad, lots of pain and im passing clots about the size of an adult hand. It's really worrying me, I tend to put everything down to my size as I'm a big girl and I'm just scared to go to the doctors. I know it's nothing like a baby or an STI as im not sexually active and don't plan on being for some time. Any help would really be appreciated, thanks.

I implore you, go to the doctor. I understand that you're scared but what's even scarier is the size of the clots you are passing. Having an irregular period is abnormal within itself, especially when it is happening over a long period of time. It may be as simple as the doctor testing your hormone levels and you taking meds or birth control to regulate your period.

Either way, this board can only do so much. Even if someone took a guess and told you exactly what the problem is you STILL have to go to the doctor. There are no home remedies, it isn't normal, and it won't pass. Don't you want relief from the constant bleeding and clots? You aren't sexual active now, but one day you will be. One day you will want children--this will intefere with that, big time.
