It smells

is there a way that one can stop the smell and prevent it from coming back

Hi there and welcome.  I assume you are talking about vaginal odor.  Well, in truth, the best thing to do is go see your doctor.  If it is a strong, bad odor---  you very well could have bacterial vaginosis which needs to be treated with medication.  Lots of women get this, so no big deal, but it does need to be treated.  Do you have a discharge as well.

Never ever douch as that makes things worse!  good luck
