So this is a little embarrasing but its driving me crazy and hopefully someone can help.  I have this really bad itching sensation starting a little bit above my clitoris and up.  Hard to really explain the area.  It itches so bad, its making me very uncomfortable.  Those are the only symptoms.  Anyone have an idea what it could be?  I normally shave down there and I haven't done that in a while so I wasn't sure if maybe the hair was just irritating me?

I just saw this post, which you wrote about the other day.  I quit using the Vagisil because I don't feel that it's solving my problem.

I think my problem is due to some sort of dermatitis but am definitely mentioning it, however embarrassing, to my new ob this upcoming Monday at my next post op visit.  My soreness/burning has been occuring for the past several days.  I'm fed up with it!

I don't really have pain in the area, so I don't think it could be classified as vulvodynia.  Mine is centralized inside the labia majora.  Yesterday morning or the morning before, upon closer inspection with my trusty mirror (LOL), I thought the right side of the labia majora was more reddened than the other side.

I can't wait for Monday to get here (not only to dx this pesky problem, but to have another gander at the good-looking doc that I have! tee hee hee)  :D

i've had this issue before. i shave, so i don't know if that's what you do, too, but in either case, that whole area is pretty sensitive. sented soaps or even just bar's of soap can be too much for "her" to handle...my friend recomended Summer's Eve Femin. Body Wash, but I really only use it down there. I've been using it for about 2 years, and I have never once had an itching problem since then...and the nice thing about it, I worked immediately!

HTH!! :)

Hi...let me try this again.

I have that, too but mine is also accompanied by itching around the entire labia inside and around the vaginal opening. If you read down a ways to "Yeast Infection, Fissures, and Hemorrhoids" (April 15th) you'll get my whole story but like you, I also shave (but haven't in over a week because of all the problems I'm having) and have this terribly intense itch around the clitoris and upwards. I had been using vagisil but at the moment, vagisil is only making that area feel numb and I'm not sure why. My doctor thinks mine started as a yeast infection and then escalated to a reaction, possibly hives, from generic Diflucan and a compound that was in with steroid cream that I was given by another doctor at a walk-in clinic. I also had NO discharge, odor or anything consistant with it being a yeast infection when this started so I'm not even sure that's what it is but of course, I'm not a doctor. Nothing has changed in my personal hygiene, in the food I'm eating or the products I use to wash with or even wash my undiies with. In other words, all is the same except for my body parts down there. I am now on brand name Diflucan again, a plain steroid to rub on all the itchy parts and prescription dose Reactine once a day for 7 days to help with the itch.Since I just began this treatment last night, I can't say for sure if it's doing anything yet. I also got some Activia, a probiotic yogurt and am going to eat that as well to help restore some balance in my body. I know there are varying opinions on yogurt but I have actually seen friends who have eaten it and cleared up their yeast infections after many medical trials and tribulations.
My advice and what I have learned through my ordeal...take it easy on OTC products like vagisil. I think if I was to try anything, I would go for the OTC Canestan cream which is specifically for a yeast infection. If this continues, or if you notice that it is spreading, go see your doctor immediately, especially if nothing in your daily routine has changed. I think I waited too long to see my doctor and that was my biggest mistake.
Good luck and hope you find relief...

Could it be an alergy to a new product?

Sometimes when I don't shave for awhile thats what makes me itch, but I would make sure you dont have an infection.  I would shave I guess and see if that works and if not then make a trip to your doc or call.
