Labial swelling

Ok,on my right labia at the top where the "lips" join, i have a major swelling.  About 3 days ago i had a small bump, which i thought was a hair bump.  I had my boyfriend look at it closely and he too thought it was a hair bump.  He attempted to remove a hair from that area, all the while squeezing it, but nothing happned to it.  The next morning i woke up and the swelling was massive.  it extended into my pubic hair and was extremely hard and red.  To me it appears infected.  I had a spider bite once and the swelling looks the same.  It started pussing today (the 4th day)and I am getting very worried, because it is very painful and very hard.  It will take at least 2 days for me to get into the doctor.  Has anyone seen a doctor for this issue before?  What did they tell you?  Is it neccessary that i see my GYN?

Hi Ladies...hope this helps...I had a sore swollen lump there once, showed it to my gyn during an exam...I said: do I have cancer??? She just laughed & said NOOO , you do NOT have cancer, it's an ingrown hair!  She advised soaking a washcloth in as hot water as you can stand, place it on the lump frequently...and sure enough, in a couple days, the infection came to a head, and I popped the ingrown hair right out, gone, never to return :)  good luck!

keep disinfecting it twice a day, that should help get rid of the infection. If it is an ingrown hair that cannot be removed with a simple plucker, then you should show your doctor, they sometimes have to perform a small insicion to release the hair. But don't play around with it and be sure to disinfect it.

All my girlfriends are telling me that im over-reacting and that its just an infected hair bump....but...i still think its something worse.  Anyone ever had anything like this before.  One girl said her sister had to have hers lanced and drained?

I'm not a doctor, but to me what it sounds like is probably what you thought... an ingrown public hair.  with the boyfriend's squeezing and tugging, it probably made it a bit worse and thats why the swelling has gone up and its more tender with pus.

id keep your eye on it for a couple days... if it gets worse and doesnt get any better, then I'd make an appt.
