Mass in fallopian tubes

I have been diagnosed with a mass in each fallopian tube.  Waiting on bloodwork to come back but was told this is mostly seen in "old" infection.  More than likely an STD that showed no symptoms and went untreated, even though my screenings for both chlamydia and gonorrea came back negative.  Was told due to this being and "old" infection that it's possilbe that my screenings would come back negative.  So how "old" is "old'?  How long ago could I have contracted this disease?
