I did a search on this site for "follicular cystitis" and there were two previous posts about it on the urology forum. You may want to check it out.
It does, however, sound like a prolapse. This is fairly common in women with hysterectomy...you can also google the terms and get lots of info.
Good luck-- MH
This sounds like the same thing my grandmother is going through, but the doctors told her that her bladder DID drop. now they're saying she has follicular cystitis...which i can't find much info on. If anyone knows anything about it, please share. Also, to the original poster, your mom should definitely see a doctor about her problem before it turns into something really serious.
it's probably a prolapse. it's not going to get better, only worse, and she needs something done. it sucks, i know, but like the other poster said, when your female organs arent there anymore, there is nothing to hold the bladder up.
My mother had one also in the late 80's and she has been doing the same thing when urinating. Hers began a few years ago and has got to the point of slight urinary incontence or in other words, she cant hold it long. She said that with out the female organs, that the bladder has nothing to hold it up and that it could drop. My mother has put off going to the md, but she said it may need to be "tacked" back into place.
