My period wont stop! I was on the depo shot for 3 years. I haven't had a shot in a year and a half now. About 5 months ago I had a bad heavy period for 2 weeks that was so heavy I went through about 20 tampons a day. I was so dizzy and weak I couldn't do anything. Now, my period started again 3 weeks ago. It will have a extremly heavy day the first day then a light day then stop I wont have it for a day then it starts all over agin. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. I don't get period cramps I get the feeling that my right overy is about to pop! It feels like it swells up and its ganna pop! I don't know what to do!

My name is Bre'ann and I am only 19 years old. In january of 2010 I had my last dose of the depo shot (birth control shot) and starting in january of this year (2011) I just got my periods back and everytime they would be heavy and last only about 3-4 days but on October 10, 2011 I started my period and it is still going. It has been going for 12 days and no signs of it letting up anytime soon. I have no medical insurance but should I still see a doctor because my biggest dream is to have kids but have been trying to get pregnant since October 8, 2010 and I am starting to doubt whether I can get pregnant at all. Can anyone help me????

HI there's something with me that recently almost 2 months back i got my Menes on continuously for 2 weeks i was tensed i went to a gynecologist she suggested me cycloset and registrone for the time to stop for 23days but meanwhile i have developed this problem that if the medicines are not taken i get my periods continuously minor or major. i feel there is no cycle to stop it and regain it. m  curious what have happened in me. will there be someone to tell me? And also i get this bad leg and thigh pains and frequent urination.

My daughter was on depo same thing periods wouldnt dtop or she get them every week for 3 days then stop then come back also the depo neddle has prob stuffed her chance of conciving normal as it has cause to many hair folicals on her ovieris witch is stoping the eggs from moving through they get caught and are causing cystes

I got off the depo and have been bleeding for a year now. When i first got off of it i had no period for a month then all of a sudden my period comes and its really heavy just like youres only i had giant blood clots...........theres only been like two days out of the year after it started that it stopped, and even then when i went to the restroom it was on my toilet paper.  I just dont feel the same anymore!

Hi. I need sum advice. Im 19 n i have always had irregular periods. It comes n lasts for 2 months or 3 then stops for about 3 months n so on. But since july it has come and it hasn stopped yet. Everyday for the past 7 months i have to wear a pad n it seems to b gettin heavier with time. I live with my sister and i told her wen it was about 3 mths in bcuz thats wen it wud usually stop n it didn look like it was about to. She hasn taken me to a doctor yet and as i said it has been continuous for the past seven mths. I go to skool but i dont work else i wud hav taken myself. I dont hav medical insurance n i am worried that this may be life threatening. I have always been anaemic even before i had my periods. I can just imagine how low my blood count is rite now. What do i do?

Hi. This is to any1 thinking about gettin the depo. When I got it I was never warned about this and I'm quite sure most the girls who have commented on this were not warned to... Yea ok it convenient you don't need to worry bout takin a pill everyday. But to be honest it's really not worth it at all. My insides are messed up!! I only had one shot in Feburary 2010 and for the whole three months I only came on once for five days! I normally come on really heavy for a full seven days but it was strangely light. As I didn't come on for so long I thought it best if I wait for  to have a normal period b4 I take another shot and thank god I did otherwise I would not have realised how much this one injection has messed up my inside. It's now it's now January 2011 almost a year from my 1st shot and still my body has not recovered. I did not start my period till late November 2010! So from feb to November I only had one period that lasted me 5 day!!!! That's messed up. I come one in November and it stayed on for about two weeks very heavy I'm mean full on girls. Obviously I was happy I've finally started, and to be honest I never actually wanted a period so bad! Normally we dread that week but I was sooooo relieved. I come off for I think one day and the next day I was on again bit extremely light. I have been on ever since but very light I just keep a tissue there. But hopefully my body will sort itself out. I don't want to go doc cos they the ones that put me on this stupid depo in the first place. They just gona give me something else and ok it may solve the problem now but what about later? The same way I never knew that this could happen to my body from that stupid injection is the same way I wont no about the next drug they try give me. Stay clear of depo x x x and all my sisters who read this our bodies wouldn't have messed up if we got this. Let ur body heal it self it may take years but we should learn from this instead of running bk to the doctors blindlly. They messed us up in the first place.

i am only 24 and ever since i have had a miscarriage at the age of 20 my periods have been so messed up!! I have been to the obgyn a MILLION times and all he gives me is provera, and it makes me bleed even more, trust me, i bleed enough i dont need to anymore. But i have been diagnosed with pcos. now the one thing i did find to help was clomid. this time around not so much. me and my husband have been trying for almost 2 years to get pregnant. NOTHING. i have takin this, he has takin this and that and got test along with me. why is it okay to bleed like this? I also tried birth control and it did NOTHING also... im screwed.. any help???

I had a depo shot in January of 2003 after having a very traumatic miscarriage. I bled for almost two years after that. I bled for about 680 days out of about 700. My life was completely miserable for those two years. The Dr. told me it would work itself out. It did, it just took forever. I DO NOT recommend Depo to anyone.

i got the shot back in 2006 and four years later i m still having problems i wasnt having a period at all and now for over a year i am always bleeding no dr want to help me they say it will work its self out i am scaried i cant have a baby and im only 22 oh and btw i onlt got one shot to all condsidering the depo run the other direction any one have a ny suggestions?

don't worry u r not in my situation I have been bleeding since september 2009 and now i am just spotting because my doctor put me on the depo shot I was trying to have a child but now I have little hope of that if my bleeding dosen't stop completely and soon they will have to do a histerectomy. I am only 25 years old.

OMG! Thank you all for posting your experience. I was beginning to get REALLY scared; thinking that i might have cancer or a really bad bacterial infection, I'm only 19!!!! But i recently had gotten off the Depo. I had my period non stop for 3 months. My doctor had given me some pills to stop my period for a week, after i got done taking the pills i had a normal week period. After that he had me start my new birth control (the pill). i didn't have my period for about 2, maybe 3 weeks. I started my period 2 weeks ago, and i it still continues. This *****!!! I would NEVER recommend the Depo to anyone! I'm really scared that i maybe one day will not be able to have kids because of all the **** that they (the doctors) want me to "try." I now believe this is all because of the Depo.

I have been on depo for 9 yrs due to me havin endometriosis i am now no longer on it i have had my first period for 3 weeks now how long will it last and what a my chances of havin a baby in the near future i havnt had pain with my periods which i am thinking positive about

im so glad to read these comments, i was due for my shot of depo on 4th of sept and i didnt have it cause me and my partner want another baby. i didnt start to bleed until nov 15th and since then it hasnt really stopped. i got about a 4 day break a week ago and that was it... i dont get how the doctor reckons that my body will sort it self out. i feel like **** all the time and just yuk.
does any1 have any advice

Same here!  It seems I live with a period!  I revolve my entire life around this ****!  I have to wear black all the time.  I feel like **** and I know I have fybroids..but they do nothing about it, except put me on massive amounts of iron because I am anemic...my level is 9.8 which is very LOWWWWW!!  Not normal.  Tomorrow I have another freaking appt., and we shall see what they say this time.  I have taken a pill to stop it before..but ever since moving to Georgia things are different...seems like this state likes to fix things without meds.  Which is fine with me...but how can anyone bleed for 14 days straight???  I am..it is not heavy as it once was...this has happened quite frequently with me.  but I am sick and tired and talking about pushing my body..I have not energy!  None.

I know how u feel that depo shot is rediculous i jsut recentally got off of it and ive been having nothing but probloms ive now had my period for 2 monthes and also i just recentally found out thta im a hypoclacemic and i have never been that till i got on the shot and 1 thing that can cause that is a hormone deficincy and i think that shot might ahve done it. but if i were anyone id do alot of research b4 getting on any birth control make sure u know what ur getting into b4 u go through alot of probloms and its inportant to talk everyhting through with ur dr first to make sure u find something thats right for u.

I SWEAR I WILL NEVER GET THE DEPO AGAIN FOR ONE I GAINED 20 POUNDS IN MY FIRST MONTH ON IT AND TOLD MY DOCTOR I WANT TO GO BACK ON THE PILL, SHE SAID OK SO DONT GO FOR YOUR NEXT SHOT IN JUNE. SO JUNE CAME AROUND AND THE DAY AFTER I WAS SUPPOSE TO GET THE NEXT SHOT MY PERIOD CAME. I WAS ON MY PERIOD FOR  11 WEEKS AND MY OB/GYN SAID THAT WAS NORMAL FOR GETTING OFF THE SHOT. THERE WAS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT THAT. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THOUGH AND IM SORRY :(

see your gyn! im in the same boat as you are except i was never on the shot. my gyn gave me Provera ive been taking it since Wednesday April 18...i started my period on April 15 and was extremely heavy, huge clots the size of my hand and everything horrible cramps. it seems to be working, however i am still bleeding rather light now...
