Lower left pain

I have had this pain off and on for awhile now, it feels like severe period cramps but its only on the left side. and i get it mostly when i don't have my period. I usually get it a few times a month, they hurt really bad. I don't know what to do i've tried everything I can think of and nothing works. this one time i was crying on the toilet because it hurt so bad and i never do that. can someone help me? I have an appointment with my obgyn soon but i don't know how much longer i can take this. I've thought about going to the ER but i don't want to go their and then be fine and look like a fool. and i don't want them to say nothing is wrong, because i know their is. well let me know what you think it could possibly be, and if you have any tips that could help me. I would really appreciate it! thanks

Thank you for your insight on everything, it has opened my eyes on what some of the possibilities could be. I do have an ob/gyn app. next week, it isn't for that reason but I think it couldn't hurt to mention it. So hopefully something can be done, I will keep ya posted on what happens.

Hi.
Have you considered IBS?
Usually when the pain is not associated with your period, it may be safe to say that it is not related. At least this much I have learnt in the last few months.
Recently I was at my family doctor. I described much of the same pain, he asked if it occured on my left side. He pushed the area and where it hurt. He said that he wanted to test against all gastrointestinal causes.
I have the same pains. I can assure you they are NOT normal, but to the chargin of our doctors! I was sure that it had something to do with my reproductive organs! I had appointments made with an Obs/Gyn.. It was discovered that my PAP TEST was abnormal, after more tests it was discovered that I had abnormal cells in my cervix condusive to cancer. I'm not trying to scare you- I am trying to rule out possibilities for you...
Anyway, after all is said and done, I was sure that the pain was a result of my pre-cancerous cells. When the pain continued following my surgery, I consulted my Obs/Gyn who concluded that the pains I am expereincing are in no way affiliated with my cervial dysplasia. Rest assured for you!
I had a laproscopy also during my surgery. They were under the impression that my pain may be a result of endometriosis (sp). The diagnostic laproscopy was inconclusive for endometriosis. Unfortunately for me...Meaning they were still unsure WHAT was causing my severe pain and discomfort.
My Surgeon, also my Obs/Gyn, was only able to find scarring on my bowels. More specifically lesions on parts of my large intestine. I was informed that removal of these lesions could result in more pain and may worsen the scarring and only temporarily reduce the pain and frequency.
My Obs/Gyn has prescribed me Tylenol3, an anti-inflammatory with codeine, as a temporary pain relief. Unfortunately, as I wonder if it is the same for you, I can not predict when the onset of the pain will occur! It is random...sometimes frequent and disabling...and sometimes dull and scarse...
I am scheduled to see my Obs/Gyn/Surgeon again, as a follow up. I am requesting an MRI and CT Scan to help diagnose my problem further. As no one is really sure what is causing my pain.

I have been able to locate the pain. And try and centralize it. Also I have tried to identify times when this most occurs. The reason I ask if you have considered IBS, is because I think that sometimes my pain occurs and is sometimes relieved by a bowel movement...

Just a thought.
Please update though, maybe you can help me in return.
I'm going to post my own question too, to see if someone can help me!
