Recurring Infections...Help!

I really need some help.  I am 22 years old and married.  Ever since I started having sex 2 years ago, I've had increasing problems.  My vaginal area is red, raw, and it burns when I urinate.  It's always like this to some extent.  But about once a month, I get a full blown infection with itching and swelling.  The only thing that helps this is my period (which is very irregular and only comes every couple months or so.  I also have a lot of discharge all of the time (normal discharge though).  And whenever I start to feel good down there at all, if I have sex it always sets if off again.  I'm not on the pill, don't use latex condoms or lubricants, I where white cotton underwear and don't let any chemicals get on it.  I make sure to get enough foreplay during sex and it's always lubricated and we try an keep it short.  I've been to doctors and it's not yeast or really anything else.  I've been checked for STD's.  I don't know what to do.  I'm tired of being constantly in pain.  Please help!

I had the same thing happen to me once...but it was when i was on the pill.  They had to switch me to the shot because everytime I would come close to having my period I would get a severe yeast infections due to tampons  and scented soaps. It finally went away and I am back to normal now!!  I am now back on the pill.

I've already tried an antibiotic for the infection (along w/ diflucan) with no luck.  rebbecca, what did the doctor do for your inflamed cervix?  Does anyone have any other ideas?

something similar was happening to me for a while and they couldn't figure it out. In the end it was that my body created more of a certain bacteria then needed and caused a bacteria infection all the time..My MD gave me metrogel or something like that and it comes in a pill to and it works. I don't really get them anymore.

I would say it is a bacterial infection. This usually clears up with an antibiotic. I would have my doctor run a culture. If you are prone to yeast infections, I would talk to my doctor about taking diflucan while on the antibiotic because they tend to cause a yeast infection.
