Should I be worried about having mild BV while also having a severe yeast infection?

I had symptoms starting about two weeks ago. Discharge and burning sensations. I went to the Urgent Care and they said I had a mild UTI and *assumed* I had vaginitis. They prescribed me Flagyl which is a strong antibiotic that made me extremely ill. I went to another clinic that I thought would be more thorough, which they were, but not in the right way. They assumed I had an STD even though I told them it would be highly unlikely. Still, anything is possible so they *said* they tested for most if not all STD’s, yeast, and uti. They said it all came back negative. Looked me in the eye and said you do not have a yeast infection. They also said they couldn’t find my IUD strings and sent me to the hospital for a trans vaginal ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that my IUD was where it was supposed to be.  Finally went to my gynecologist back home and she said it was definitely a yeast infection that was severe. The severity came from not treating it properly and the Flagyl. She also said I had mild bacterial vaginosis but that we were only going to worry about the yeast infection right now because of it’s severity. I’m taking diflucan and applying nystatin cream to my labia. Now I’m on my period and I’m worried about my period affecting my yeast infection in a bad way. I am also worried about the BV I’m not currently treating. I heard that if BV is left untreated it can cause PID which has the possibility in causing problems with pregnancy. I’m only 20 so I’m not trying to be pregnant but I also would like to keep myself fertile for when I do decide to become a mother. I just want to get healthy again.  My gyno said that usually BV will correct itself if it is mild. I am also taking probiotics to help with the yeast and BV. If anyone has knowledge on these topics or has experienced this before, please feel free to weigh in.  I would really appreciate it.  I feel as though my condition wouldn’t be as bad if I had had competent HCP’s at first. I’ve been so worried and now I know what’s going on but I just want to know what to do to have my lady bits be as healthy as they can be. And advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your period won’t affect the symptoms! Your body knows what it’s doing.
As for the BV... I’ve used ‘balance active BV pessaries’ which include lactic acid. They are really small and you just insert them like a tampon before bed and they dissolve inside you. They help to restore the PH balance. Antibiotics aren’t a good solution for BV, as they take away all bacteria, good and bad! As there is already an imbalance... I reccomend a more natural approach!

I wouldn't be worried per say.  It happens.  Both require different treatment to get rid of though so treat them both appropriately.  BV is hard to eradicate.  Partners can pass it back and forth and sometimes your male partner has to go on the med to get rid of it too at the same time the woman takes it.  Like most infections it 'can' go away on its own.  But that smell.  ugh.  So, I'd treat the BV and yeast at the sane tie and when you finish up the BV meds, start again with the yeast if it reappears.  Treating yeast infections does not increase your odds of having BV.
