Sister has nodule in right breast

My sister found out (through a mammogram test) she has a nodule
in her right breast.  She is supposed to have an ultrasound on
her breast tomorrow.  Has anyone else had this happened?  What
is usually done after the ultrasound results come back
suspicious?

Well my sister went to have her ultrasound on Thursday, May 18th.  Because the technicians couldn't see the nodule after
two tries, they did a more detailed mammogram on her. The
nodule is about the size of a grape.  Her doctor was going
to compare last year's and this year's mammograms yesterday.  She should find out today or tomorrow what the next step(s) will be.  Thanks!

Hi Lorrie, sorry about your sister. What happens after the mammo is   an ultra sound where they will measure the size of the nodule and locate it. It is the same as having a pregnancy scan but on the breast.  Sometimes they use a cup like thing to see closer with scan it doesn't hurt unless the nodule is painful or sometimes pre menstration. If they are suspicious they will then possibly do a fine needle biopsy to check for cancer. If not your sister will have yearly check ups to measure size etc.  I have had nodules since I was 30 am now 40 and still nothing shows. I wish your sister lots of luck!!!! remember being positive helps!
