Stabbing pain in vagina and anus

I completely relate to the pain you are all experiencing. I have sharp stabbing pain that feels like it shoots up through my vaginal area into my abdomen and sometimes my anus as well. The pain is so unbearable at times that I cannot move or breathe. I am currently being treated for endomitriosis, however nothing they have done has been effective and now they are suggesting an IUD and possibly laproscopic surgery. I have also had surgery on my bladder to rule out IC which turned out to be negative. Have any of you had any treatments that have been successful? I am desperate at this point since I have been dealing with this type of daily pain for over 5 years. Please help!

I am 19, almost 20, but I also have had this since I was about 13 or 14 years old. I have only just today searched for this myself, because while I was sitting with my laptop, suddenly I started getting the pains, and had to lay on my stomach, which for me I've found is the least painful way to be positioned. I never even heard of endomitriosis or knew something like it existed, so I thought it was normal for women to occasionally have this and I had it more than normal, or that I may have had some kind of infection or like a fluid build up or something odd like that. But after doing a bit of research I noticed that the symptoms were pretty spot-on to what I have. I always get these stabbing pains within the week before, or a bit earlier of my menstrual cycle and it often carries on into my period. There's nothing wrong with you because you are young, Of course I haven't been diagnosed yet, and I can't be sure at all that you have endomitriosis but the disease affects women in reproductive years, from when they start their period, so it makes sense for you to have it young, if you have your period or may be starting it soon. Here is a website I found that has some of the symptoms and other small bits of information if you want to talk to your mother or other woman you are close to about it (I know it is extremely uncomfortable to talk to a man, even if its your father about these things)  http://www.endometriosisassn.org/endo.html

I have this pain as well and it is muscel spasms.  I have had a hyst so no more periods but from time to time this pain in my vigina and rectal area starts.  It is horrible!  The only way I can get any relief from it is to place my finger inside my vagina and gently press on the back wall of my vagina with the top side of my finger.  This seems to work after a little while.  U will be able to feel the muscel spasm with your finger.  I'm sorry but this is the only thing that I have found to help with this awful, awful pain.

I'm reading all of this and thinking what is wrong with me. I'm 13 and I have these massive stabbing pains in my vagina. I don't know what's happening and it's so painful that I curled up in a ball and cried. I can't even sit down because it is that painful. After I had finished crying I tried to get up but I couldn't because it was so painful.

these pains can be caused by a lot of things besides iud insertion. sexual trauma being one. basically anything that causes the muscles to tense up. ultra sounds did not detect the bumps but i can feel them with my fingers. your vaginal wall should be smooth without bumps or ridges. you'll know if you find one because you'll lose your breath or scream due to the pain.

i've been having shooting pains in my vagina for a year. since i got paraguard. i got my iud out and the pains persisted. finally i found a doctor that told me it was muscle spasms on my pelvic floor. she does a therapy where she puts pressure on them until they stop spasming. problem is she can't get to the one that is high up there and the most painful. and for the past few months i have been getting the same stabbing pains in my rectum. I'm looking for more answers.

Hey there. I don't know that Im posting to the proper category and this is my first time posting but, here goes! So after having a kinda loose stool this afternoon, which is unusual for me to have any at all, (IBS-C) and they're never "loose" (NOT liquid or anything, wasnt concerned at all) UNTIL about 20mins AFTER, I started having these weird electricity-like pains in my rectum. They felt almost like spasms in my anus. TERRIBLE, WICKED spasms. Only when Id sit (in my chair) with pressure on that area did it feel any better, and even then, NOT good. But also I started having pain in my abdomen along with a pain (sharp and achey) in my left side of my hip too. Here I am, posting this, after literally 5 hours of this. One of the pains in my rectum actually woke me up - I coughed in my sleep (have that terrible cold going around) and yeah! It WOKE me! A pretty toucgh feat. Though it feels a little better by now...the almost waves of pain are HORRIBLE! Im a little worried by now. What could this be? Any solutions for pain relief? Thank you, in advance.

I too have these pains and have also had a hysterectomy.
80% othe pains I was having before are gone but this shooting pelvic anus cagina pain still comes and goes. I find it comes every few weeks or so and is there for about 2 days. It feels like so much pressure sometimes I can't sit. As well as passinh gas and bowel movements get very painful with the pressure.
I did go for an internal and external ultrasound last week. If they come up with anything I'll let you know.
If it matters I'm 29 3 children and my hysterectomy was 2 years ago.

I was so desperate and in so much pain I did a google search and came across this forum.Thank you ladies for sharing. I helps to know I am not alone. I hate going to the doctor and trying to explain something odd like this.

Most of you desribed the pain during a bowel movement. For me the pain happens so much during my bowel movement I never think about it any more. I just breathe though it. But today the pain came out of nowhere. I went to sit down and nearly had to jump back up! My right leg is achy and it feels like the mucles around my heel and ankle are pulled taut. I just took 800 mgs of ibuprophen cause I can't take the pain. Has anyone experienced the pain during normal activity? .

I have had 8 ovarian cysts rupture on my left side and 2 on my right. There really is no way of treating them so I have heard. My hormones are being regulated by birth control and I dont get my period anymore, since October 07, and have recently recovered from laparoscopic surgery done in late January this year. Pain is still there and my OB suggested Mirena, but I opted out since I have heard nothing but horror stories.... This is like a terrible nightmare sometimes!!  I'm going to look into the pudendal nerve entrapment, that is actually the second time someone mentioned that to me. Thanks for all your advice and sympathy.

you may want to check out something called pudendal nerve entrapment. It really does sound like you're experiencing many of the symptoms of it.

I would be interested in hearing more about this. I am experiencing something just like your pains. But I don't have endometriosis, and I have had my Mirena IUD for about 6 months now. I have only started experiencing these horrible, shooting pains, since my IUD was placed. And my OBGYN has noted development of ovarian cysts, and said that can cause some pain. But the extremity of my pain caused her to believe it might be gastro-intestinal. Whether it's cysts or not, I'm not sure yet. I would like to hope my IUD is not causing those problems, because other than a little initial discomfort and some weight gain, it's been a god-send.
