Stomach Flu...good times

Nothing better than being pregnant, and having the stomach flu.
All at the same time as both young children, ages 3 and 5.
Fighting over who gets which toilet, who is puking in the sink, or bucket, not to mention the clean up that must occur during, and after.

My question is: How long do we need to quarantine ouselves to make sure that nobody else gets this? All three of us starting vomitting within minutes of each other late Monday night around 10pm. Today, we feel MUCH better than yesterday.

My daughter seems to feel fine, but not much of an appetite.
She would be exposed to about 60 kids today, between preschool, a birthday gathering, and dance class.

Is it worth it? I am saying NO, but the lady that answered the phone at the DR. office, says NO SYMPTOMS, SEND THEM. Well, ok, nobody had symptoms on EASTER Sunday, but everyone except 4 people got the stomach flu.

Just want everyone's opinion on this one please................

Oh I'm sorry you had to go through that! It's hard enough being sick, but then having to take care of your little ones too. :(  I'm glad you are feeling better today. I wish we could bounce back as fast as our kids!!

My kids school told us that if they have had a fever over 100 and/or vomiting, not to go to school for 24 hrs. So that is the rule we stick to and just have them stay home and rest. I think they like that they can watch hours of tv. LOL

You poor thing, doesn't always happen that way to mom's.  I agree with Nalla, 24 hours after vomitting or fever. Maybe longer if they're not drinking a lot or are really tired. I don't think that you'd infect anyone because you are usually most contagious when you do not have any symptoms-just before you do.  BUT there is a huge chance of her picking up another bug since her immune system is already down from the stomach flu. Rest up and remember you need extra fluids-sorry to sound like a mom, lol. Hope you are all well very soon!

my mother always used to use a method called the "BRAT" diet when we had the flu and it was almost guaranteed to make everyone feel better within three days.  she had us going to school relatively soon after we first became infected.

B - bread or toast
R - rice, light salt
A - applesauce
T - tea, light sugar/lemon

try giving that to your kids for three days and it should work wonders.  the bread and rice will provide the carbs and you dont need to eat a lot to benefit from them, which is perfect if your daughter is not feeling hungry.

Thanks for your comment.  The BRAT diet is specifically for the diarreha, which only lasted a short time w/her.  Acidophillus is also good for that.  We were just so sick, that I am completly paranoid about passing it to others.  Sometimes, I feel like parents just send their kids off to school when they neccesarily should not, and others become ill as a result.  I am just trying to prevent that, but also wondering if I am being TOO PARANOID???
