OMG god.  Me too.  I am almost 50 years old.  I smell so bad.  I have had tampons get stuck before.  Last month I thought there was one stuck but could not feel anything.  I thought maybe the smell is related to menopause.

This month is smells so bad I tried to check again and yes there is but it is some far up I cant get a hold.  I am super embarrassed.  I dont know how to face the doctor or which I have an appointment tomorrow.

Any suggestions or solutions for trying to get it out myself today?

I just had an IUD put it about a moth ago and I have been spotting. I had a tampon in and got drunk and now dont remember if I took it out I had sex that night. put another tampon in the day after that. I just noticed a little bit of brown in my discharge and a foul bloody/fishy smell coming from my vagina. It is very potent. Ive felt around up there and didnt find anything. Should I go to the  dr? Or could the smell be from an infection or maybe something else? Ive never had any type of odor before.I feel fine and as far my only symptom is the odor. Someone please help!

Greetings:

What if you had a tampon stuck in your, say for a couple of months.  Would it eventually come down?  Basically my story is, when I use small tampons and I go to the bathroom, very often then slip out before I can take them out.  About 2 months ago I went to take my tampon out and I couldn't find it.  When I looked in the toilet I didn't see it but knows that it can go where you don't see it.  I stopped putting in tampons, had sex since then and nothing is uncomfortable and had two full periods since then with no problem.  Should I still go and get a sonogram or something?

I am freaking out as I just got a tampon out that was stuck for about 5 days.  I have had sex a few times while it was stuck in there.... I do not know what I am supposed to do-at work today I felt like I had a bladder in infection but I do not know if that is from the tampon being stuck or the sex.  I am very nervous about getting TSS and at what point I need to go to the doctor-although I cannot afford it at this point.... can anyone help me?!

same thing happened to me as a student. I went to a 'free clinic' because my vagina was so smelly...obviously something was not right. I had no idea... much to my embarassment- I had left a tampon up there for a month approx. The Nurse Practitioner was so nice about it... she said it wasn't the first time she had seen it!
In retrospect, I was very lucky not to get toxic shock syndrome

Similar to you, I have had a smelly, brown discharge the last few days which is driving me insane.  As I am on my period, I was waiting until it was over and headed to my doc.  Low and behold, today, a tampon came out when I went to the bathroom.  I am personally embarrassed. I can't believe that happened.  Probably because I always wear double protection (tampon + pad) during my first 2 days.  I totally forgot about the tampon and just changed my pad.  I'm glad to see that I'm not going crazy and that it does happen.  I'll wait a few days, but I'm hoping I did not get an infection and that the odor will disappear.  Maybe I will try an over the counter vaginal cream....Thanks for your timely comments.

I found a tampon in me today, completely unaware that it was in me for 2 weeks (I think). Went to the doctor for a smelly, brown discharge and he barely had a look. He orescribed oral anti biotics, to which I had an allergic reaction (thank God as when I went to the ER for a the rash the new doctor prescribed an anti biotic cream to insert in the vagina which helped to push it down). Anyway my point is do as Jamie1984 says with the lube...leave in for a while and grdually push down.

And also to the helpers on this site, please no more mentioning of the put downs as doing that is a put down itself and there are enough comments to make it crystal clear by now. <3

OK SWEETIE YOU NEED TO GET THAT THING OUT ASAP!! LEAVING A TAMPON IN FOR THAT LONG PUTS YOU AT RISK FOR TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME (TSS) WHICH CAN BE VERY SERIOUS AND LIFE THREATING IF NOT TREATED. LOOK IN YOUR TAMPON BOX AT THE PAMPLET IT TELLS ALL ABOUT IT.

NOW LETS GET THAT SUCKER OUT!  WASH YOUR HANDS, FIND SOME K-Y(OR WHAT EVER TYPE IS HANDY) ADD A GOOD AMOUNT TO YOUR MOST DOMIANT FINGERS( I WOULD SAY THUMB, POINTER AND MIDDLE) NOW SIT ON THE TOLIET AND SPREAD YOUR LEGS AS FAR AS YOU CAN, PUSH DOWN LIKE AS IF YOU WERE GOING TO HAVE A BM (POOP) AND GENTLY SWEEP AROUND CHECKING EVERY INCH REACH HIGH AS POSSIBLE RUN YOUR FINGERS AROUND YOUR CERVIX THAT IS MORE THAN LIKEY WHERE IT IS STUCK IF YOU FEEL IT TRY TO GRASP IT IN ANYWAY YOU CAN USE THE LUB. AS MUCH AS NEEDED DONT WORRY EVERYTHING WILL ADJUST BACK DOWN.  BUT IF YOU CAN'T GET IT OR DONT FEEL IT I WOULD CALL A LOCAL GYNO. PCP, HEALTH DEPT. AND JUST ASK THE AMOUNT ANYONE WITH MEDICAL EXPERIENCE CAN CHECK IT OUT AND YOU WILL NEED SOME ANTIBOTICS/ANTIFUNGAL MEDS. BUT NOW TO KEEP YOU FROM GETTING AN INFECTION OR TO CLEAR IT UP.
GOOOD LUUCK!!

BY THE WAY THATS TO ALL WHO DEFENDED THE WRITERS ON THIS FORUM WE ALL COME TO THESE TO HELP, READ, GET HELP WHAT EVER SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR ANYONE TO GET SO DEFENSIVE OR MEAN WHEN SOMEONE IS NEEDING HELP SO THANKS AND STAY STRONG!

Your not alone and I agree that people should not be so judgemental, these forums should be a safe place for people to ask for help.   If you don't want to be helpful then do not read these forums. I got drunk in college once and had sex with a tampon in.  The next morning I discovered it was stuck and I was so panicked.  I was embarrased as hell and did not want to have to go to a doctor and tell someone.  I sat on the toilet and could barely feel it with my finger. After I had a bowl movement it came down just barely enough for me to grab it.  If you don't feel it soon it would be best for you to go and get it checked out so that you don't get an infection.  Health Clinics and Planned Parenthoods are great places to go with very professional people and they usually have a sliding scale fee system for people who do not have insurance.

I would go in to the doctor. IF you have to go to the ER go. They can work with you on a payment plan so you dont have to pay it all now. This might embarrass you but if you have a significant other, have them feel around for it, maybe they can reach it if you cant. Try squatting down and pushing out to help move it.

good luck

try lying on your back knees up prop yourself up on one elbow and bear down feeling around with the hand your not propped up on.  it could be real far back sort of lodged around the cervix.  if you can't feel it and think it's still there look up free health care clinics in your area.  if you call planned parenthood they can direct you to free health care facilities if they can't see you at a low cost.

Absolutely do NOT go to an ER with a stuck tampon, unless you want to be responsible for like a $500 bill.

Wash your hands, squat down or stand by the toilet with one foot up on it.  Reach in while bearing down.  You may have to reach really far in until you feel it.  The tampon won't get lost up there, it has to be wedged in there somewhere, if it's there at all.  Keep bearing down and sweeping around with your finger.

It usually starts to stink to high heavens after a few days, if you left one in.

If you can't feel it, call a doctors office and get in to see what's going on. Tell them what happened and say you just need a short visit very soon and maybe they'll work you in.   A visit to the doctor is FAR less expensive than going to the ER.

I would go to planned parent hood, I think that they will work with your income to see how much you will pay for the visit. If you are on a low income budget, it should be free. Please dont pay any attention to what the last poster said about you getting drunk! It is none of her business and just b/c you got drunk does not make you irresponsible.

I dont know why so many women on this site have to be so judgemental, she was asking for your help not your opinions on how responsible she is! Maybe she told us that she was drunk to explain why she doesn't know if she took it out or not. I just wish some of the women that come on here would not put others down, there is no need for that on a help forum!

I would go to the ER if you think the tampon is still in there. They can't refuse to treat you because you have no medical insurance. If your sure its in there I would say its in your best interest to get looked at. Also, was it important to tell us that you were drunk when this happened? I think you need to be more responsible if your going to drink... hope it works out.
