Trying to concieve, with questions...

Okay, I have another question I need your help with. My husband and I are trying to have a baby, and we are having some trouble due to my unpredictable cycles. My dr. said that I need to be using the home ovulation kit, but I don't know when to start using it. My period has finally started to fizzle off today. How many days after your AF is gone do you start to test for ovulation?

Also, I am trying lose my holiday pounds, and get in shape before I get pregnant, so I can keep a better handle on my weight. I got a Gazelle this weekend and will probably just do about a mile a night. Here's the question: if we get preggo this month, and I am working out like that, will it hurt the baby?

-I have a son that is 6, but I had no problem getting preggo and I wasnt working out then, so this is all new to me.

I just ended my period on Saturday the 30th.

So, I should start trying in 10 - 14 days?

I am very new to this, but I want to have a baby really badly.  I am 43 and My husband is 41.  I know they say it may be too late.

The calendars are a general thing. They are almost dead on for me, but I can usually confirm it with two things: I have an increase in cervical mucus when I wipe, and i get a sharp side cramp when the egg releases.

Okay, I actually get three, my sex drive goes through the roof when I am about to O, natures way of helping things along ; )

Some women have really good luck with ovulation predictor kits, I personally did not. Some women do the basal body temperature thing and charting (greenpixie is a pro with this, so is harleygirl) but I have never gotten into it.

Like I said, I do the 'Andi Method" every other day from the end of period to the beginning, that way if you ovulated later or earlier than day 14, you will still catch it.

Good luck!

Andi

thank you for the info.  i know this may sound stupid, but when would i know if i am ovulating?? i have gone online to an ovulation calculator which it said that the best time that i will be ovulating would be this week, how accurate is that if my periods are not regular???

I go with the every other day method from the end of my period until it comes back around. If your last period started on January 6th, it is way too early to test, in fact you may not have even ovulated yet. Your best bet it to wait until you are due for your period to start before testing.

Good luck,
Andi

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a question that I need help with. My fiance and I are trying to get pregnant. I have read on when it is the best time when you are ovulating and that is the time to try. Well My periods are never regular and they only last about 3-4 days. well my last period was 1-6-06 and my fiance and I have been tring every night since. is it too soon to take a preganacy test or do I have to wait till I miss a my next period?? I have been noticing a weird feeling with my body, so I took a test and it came back negative. Is it best to have sex after your period almost every day??? Or should I let nature take its cource?? Need Help. Also, how long after you conception do you start to show the signs, such as morning sickness and tender breast etc. I am kind of anxious in getting pregnant. Please help

If you're already working out, it's fine to continue, especially if it's fairly low impact, which I believe the gazelle is, right?
As for the fertility monitor, I don't know what kind it is, but mine (clearblue) tells me when to start using it each month. My cycle is about 30 days or so, and my peak days are usually 15, 16, 17...somewhere in there. The monitor makes me start testing on about day 9, I think. It changes sometimes as the monitor learns my cycle. I love that thing. I don't have to do anything besides pee on a stick and it knows everything about my AF visits and when we should BD.

Home ovulation kits (not monitor) (also called OPK, ovulation predictor kit) are generally started on day 12. I have a very irregular cycle, i just started using them. They said to start using on day 12.
Good Luck!!! *~*~*~*~*~*~~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*
