UTI

Three weeks ago I was told I had a small UTI - traces of blood in urine and 10000 bacteria.  No cultures were done. I had the frequency and urgency without pain. I was put on Cipro XL for 6 days and the infection cleared but not the fequency and urgency to urinate. My doctor gave me Detrol LA a week ago and the symptoms have subsided greatly.
On Sunday, my husband and I had intercourse. I lubed up well and all was good. Again on Tuesday night, we had intercourse - no pain. Wednesday morning, after I urinated, I noticed blood on the toilet paper. After 3 wipes, no more blood. There was not much blood.  I went to the ER - urine is fine. I'm mid-cycle and feeling a pinching feeling on my left ovary and some pain in the left pubic bone.  The doctor at the ER said it could be fibroids or a cyst. This is not the first time that I have a little blood after intercourse, my doctor says that it is probably trauma to the cervix. I am getting a pelvic ultrasound next week. I am 34 years old and otherwise healthy.  What are your thoughts?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This condition is called post coital bleeding. It is most commonly seen in vaginal infection like Chlamydia, gonorrhea, vaginal inflammation etc. it could also be due to disease of endometrium that is lining of uterus, polyps (mass) in uterus and cervix, fibroid tumors etc. You should consult a gynecologist and get it evaluated.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
