Upper Vulvar Lump, NC

I'm in my mid 20s. Yesterday I found a lump on my upper right vulva: under pubic hair, about 1cm diameter. It's a little more pinkish and reddish than the surrounding skin. I can see skin peeling off he surface of the lump, but not seriously peeling. The lump is not hard and hurts a little when I press it. Most of the time, I feel ok. I don't know EXACTLY what vulva soreness or swelling means, but my upper labia have been very sensitive for years: I feel discomfort if I press the labia; it also hurts when I pull the pubic hair a little bit. Is it what "vulvar soreness" is?

I've had minor vaginal itching and pain a few times before, usually before my period, and yeast infection creams didn't work very well. I read online that many vulvar cancer patients have lumps and chronic itching around vulva as their first signs, which made me highly alert.

1) Has anyone had this kind of experience before? Is it
2) Can anyone recommend any experienced GYN in Raleigh, NC? I just moved to this area and know nothing about providers!

THANKS A MILLION!

It sounds to me like you have some kind of abscess, especially with the skin peeling on the surface. It could be an ingrown hair or inflamed gland or something else.

I found a link for you:

you will have to wait a day or two to see what it does. if it goes down, and goes away, then you are fine.  if it is std related, it will blister, puss like herpes, or if was warts there would be a bunch of them in a cluster. or if you don't want to wait, see a doctor.

the peeling is strange......not sure what would cause that.  there are glands in the vagina that can swell when there is infection present.
