Uterine Fybroids...

Is there anyone out there that would be so kind to share any experiences with fybroids and how your doctor and you have handled them without going the route of surgery????  This would be greatly appreciated!

I had NovaSure done June 29, 2009.  For me it was novasure or hysterectomy.  I started small.  This was the worst and best thing I have ever done.  I have/had two uterine fibroid's one sitting on my C-section scar and the other right near my bladder.  I suffer from excessive menstrual bleeding and anemia needing to use iron, double protection during my period, Heavy clots in the menstrual blood flow, Periods that last longer than seven days, Severe cramping and Fatigue.  Birth control was not helpful.  I opted to have the non-surgical ablation and have it done in the office because my doctor was sure he could get the fibroids with just the novasure.  I took all the medication the way they told me.  My doctor told me that it was not suppose to be painful just uncomfortable thus the meds they give you.  IT WAS THE WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER HAD it was like giving birth only 10 times worse.  The doctor was very sorry almost in tears because it hurt me so bad.  Once they start you cant stop its a one time shot.  Got through it laid on the office table for about an hour and then I was fine.  It was like all my other periods it was my normal cramping with very little discharge.  I have not had a period since.  A little discharge here and there.  I have had to wear a pantie liner one time.  I don't know where I am in my cycle that's why Doc wants me to take birth control.   So this has been the best thing I have ever done.  I HAVE MY LIFE BACK.  Just a little cramping and a little moody from time to time.  But life is great now.

The best advice I have for you is talk to your Doc about your fibroid's and where they are and PAIN management.  Everyone that I had talked to said it did not hurt just a little uncomfortable NOT so much for me.  I have never handled pain well and have always needed more pain meds then most people.

Good luck I hope this helped.
