Vaginal Discharge?

Hello, I've been a little worried about my girlfriend lately.  I'm naturally sort of a paranoid person, but I decided to ask for some assistance.  Me and my girlfriend had intercourse about a week ago.  We used a condom, (we always do), I pulled out right before ejaculation (we always do again), and she is on birth control (once again, we always do).  So I'd say we practice safe sex.  But, we were hanging out a few days ago, and she mentioned a slight light pink discharge after she wiped after going to the bathroom, which was on the toilet paper.  It is very minimal and as she claims, hard to even see sometimes, but it keeps continuing the last few days, without pain she says.  This has never happened to her before, and I'm a little worried.  If these two events are connected, what could this mean?  We've had intercourse a few times before and this hasn't happened.  She had her period about 2 weeks ago, and should be expecting it again in about 2 weeks.  What could this be?

This could be a number of different things. Two common ones, that I have heard about are left over blood, or injury due to intercourse. When a female has her menstrual cycle the body isn't always able to remove all the blood from the uterus. When she is ovulating, she will use this time to clear the rest of the blood out of her system. It is pink due to the discharge from ovulation and the mixture of blood. The other possibility could be, an injury during sexual intercourse, this is most likely minor and nothing to worry about. However, if the discharge is still pinkish after a week or so I would go get it checked out to be sure.

It's possible her cervix got irritated which could cause the blood. I've had bleeding inbetween my periods ranging from light pink and hardly there to dark red and a rusty brown color. There is always a chance of pregnancy, but they sound slim and I doubt that chances are high.  If you're really concerned you can wait to see if her next period comes as usual and if it is delayed she can take a pregnancy test.
