Vaginal infection?

Hi all, first time poster hoping to maybe find some help.

In mid-November 2014 my ex boyfriend and I had gotten back together and had sex. Two days  later, I had really severe itching and pain. I thought maybe it was a yeast infection and so I took over the counter 1 day monistat. It helped at first and then came back shortly later. I decided maybe it was something else and so I went to a docotor and she said it was a yeast infection and I was prescribed one pill of Diflucan and it helped for awhile. Again, the incredible itching, dryness, and raw and sore feeling returned. I took monistat 3 hoping maybe I just needed more treatment. Again, it helped only to have the symptoms return yet again. Finally, I went to the ER due to the severity of the itching, and pain. The doctor said I had bacterial vaginosis, and I was prescribed 500mg of Flagyl, 2 a day for a week. By mid-treatment, I felt incredible. But by the end, I was feeling worse than ever. I have no idea as to what is happening to me. I am 21 years old and have had nothing like this ever happen to me, and I am relatively healthy as far as I know besides this. I have been tested for stds, HIV, and all were negative. I also have a normal pap smear. My boyfriend is also clean as he was recently tested. I dont have a regular doctor at the time, so I was possibly going to the ER again considering the pain and itching is unbearable almost and I don't think I'd be able to wait to see a doctor by appointment anyways.
Does anyone have ANY idea as to what could be happening? Any help is appreciated. Thank you everyone.
