Vaginal itching and burning after sex

I am having vaginal itching and burning after sex. The itching and burning has been going on since my husband got back from Iraq last month. I did go to the doctor and she put me on Clindamycin twice already. She tells me there is nothing else she can do for me. I am prone to having yeast infections. I am wondering if there is anything that can help this go away because it is driving me NUTS!!! Thank-U

The discharge that you are most often seeing is cervical mucus, which has different consistency and color throughout the month. The closer you are to ovulation, the more it will look like raw egg whites. After you ovulate, it will go back to being thick and cloudy. The fishy smell is a huge clue that it is a yeast infection. Drinking milk and eating yogart that contains Acidophillus helps maintain good bacteria that fights off the bad bacteria that leads to BV and yeast infections. Also, making a paste out of baking soda and applying it to your swollen parts, as well as taking warm (not hot) baths with baking soda in the water helps to relieve symptoms. Baking soda is an alkaline substance and lowers acidity.

I have extream vaginal itching and burning with some white paste like discharge. It has a slight fishy smell as well. I have been diagnosed with BV (bacterial vaginosis) and was given a that cream insert. I worked for a bit. All my life I have had somewhat of a discharge, either clear and thin, clear and clumpy, to pastey and whitish. I am sick of constantly having vaginal problems. I use femine deodrent sprays too which I now know mess with your bodies PH levels but I need to do something about the odor sometimes. I am so self consious about these problems I wont let a man go down town. I have a doctors appointment Friday and I know he's just gonna diagnosis me with BV agian. Anyone have any tips? HELP!

Acidophillus Pills (any drug store) Cured me of reoccurring yeast infections. I take them daily. I have posted this a lot today, but it is because I went through hell for 5 years trying to get rid of yeast infections and now I haven't had one in over a year. I want to share the good news. You just never read about it when you hear of treatments. hope it works for you.

Armywife- I'm also military, and can tell you some of these doctors really suck. Get a referral to a gyno. Demand one. So you can get real answers to an obvious real problem. And get yourself some relief. Also, make sure they know that your husband has just returned. They may dust their boots or whatever before getting off the plane. But I would get sick when my husband came back from Iraq/Afgan. It could even be something to do with that. Or maybe just a yeast infect. Get a referral to an outside gyno and military doctor can give one to you! Will take up to a week to get an appt. Good luck!

I would look into vulvodynia.  Burning and itch are two of the main symptoms. It does not necessarily happen just on the outside.  When I first started downthis road over 2 years ago, my first complaints were burning, tenderness and some itching mostly after sex. These symptoms did not go away for me.

Look into other matters before you keep treating without really knowing what the cause is. The chemicals and drugs they use to treat us can, in the end cause alot more longer lasting problems. Perhaps a second opinion of why this is happening in the first place.  As for being alergic to a man's semen, there is very little evidence to support that.

If it's bacterial vaginosis, Flagyl may be a more appropriate med, assuming you aren't allergic to it.

Try what everyone else suggested, and wear loose cotton undies, unscented mild soap, no douching, no tampons, change pad frequently during your menses, cut out highly processed foods, no feminine sprays..what else..I'm sure I left something out!

And yes, go back and ask if you were tested for trich, yeast, and bacterial vaginosis (BV).  Those are other common causes of vaginitis.

your doc said it 'looked like raw meat' inside of your vagina.  To me that means, very red (irritation), and possible swelling.  You would think that she would check for yeast, then bacteria, and then more in depth.  First, you need to call her and see what she checked you for.  You need to ask her if she tested you for yeast and a bacterial infection and if she did what were the results.  If she says she didn't then you need to get back in there and get those tests.  It should only take a second to swab you and put it under a microscope, she doesn't have to send it off.  And you need to make sure that she treats both you and your husband.  And as for allergic to semen, it's not really an allergy, but some women react to the pH change of the semen.  It can cause irritation, lead to yeast infections, and foul odors.  If you had sex with him before and he came inside and it didn't irritate you then it's pretty safe to say that it may not be the semen bothering you.  You really need to talk to your doc about those 2 tests.  Let us know what happened.

Another thought - has your husband been treated with an antiobiotic also?  I know some bacteria can be passed back and forth between couples,  and if both aren't treated,  they won't get better.

When the Chlamydia test came back negative,  I wonder what she decided it actually was?  Some other bacteria that she couldn't readily identify,  maybe?

I've heard stories - like urban legends - of women who are allergic to their husbands,  but it seems so rare!

Somehow,  this needs to be cultured so you can find the right treatment.  Do you have a "doc in a box" type place where you can just go and request lab tests?  I can't imagine this would be terribly expensive -

Best wishes,  I hope you get it correctly diagnosed.  Sounds awful,  and seems like it will eventually interfere with your relationship with your husband.

RockRose~The doctor did a Chlamydia test which came back negative. I had went for my yearly pap and when she examined me she said I looked like raw meat inside. She then put me on the Clindamycin. After I finished it I was still having the problem so she put me back on it again Grrrr which I still have the problem. I know this may sound strange but can a woman be allegic to a man's semen? Thank-U so much for helping me...

I forgot the most obvious - over the counter yeast infection treatments are usually very effective.

Armywife - Clindamyacin doesn't treat yeast infections,  it actually causes them.

Do you know what she was treating you for initially?  It must have been some kind of bacterial vaginal infection.    Did you have lab work that showed you had a bacterial infection?

It sounds like then,  the clindamyacin caused your yeast infection.

Here's a link.  Additional to taking acidopholus,   cutting way back on your sugar can help ease yeast infections.  Best wishes.
