What can be some causes for a prolonged period?

I am a 21 year old female and I have been on my period for 15 days. The bleeding is light where I cannot even wear a tampon but the bleeding is still consistent and has been continuous for the past 15 days. The bleeding varies between a dark brown/red color and sometimes a brighter red color. During this 15 day period I was also diagnosed with BV, yet my gynecologist does not seem to think that the infection caused the bleeding but rather the bleeding decreased the acidity of my vagina, allowing bad bacteria in and causing BV. I have also been battling extreme fatigue the last couple of days but I am not sure it is related. The only test I have gotten is for thyroid and my TSH levels are in normal range. Is this even something to worry about? Should I continue with doctor appointments and lab tests? What type of lab tests should I seek out next and what things should I rule out?
More background: My periods are normally very regular, about 29-30 days apart. When the bleeding first started it was 14 days before my next period was actually supposed to start so the bleeding caught me by surprise. I have very little pain, just mild cramps, lower back pain, and regular headaches. I am not sexually active and never have been. I am also not on any forms of birth control or medications (except a multivitamin)

You're pretty young for a fibroid, but the kind of bleeding you mention is often a sign of a fibroid. Did your doctor order an ultrasound?
